It's absolutely glorious here in the Scottish Borders! Not that I am gloating!

Ha ha, it’s not stopped us getting out. It’s Luca’s first birthday today & we enjoyed a lovely long lunch at Mylos followed by coffee & cake at Ariston. It’s currently dry 🤞🤞 but we’re staying in at Theodora tonight for a bit of a birthday party for the little one.

Loving this early season feedback fix 😄 Lucky Luca celebrating his first birthday in Skiathos, I’m sure we can all think of worse places to be. Years ago we went early season, early to mid May I think, it’s a special time of year. Places getting their Spring clean and owners full of joy and hope for the summer ahead. Not to mention the flowers & hedgerows bursting into bloom. The only blip was the freezing sea temperatures 😂😂. I was much too wimpy; I prefer the bath like temperatures of late August, early September. Hope we make it this year.....

Well of course. It happens to you every year. Or is that somebody else.
So crack on and write it all again - and don’t spoil it with abbreviations, the full works please. It’s only 1 o clock in the morning where you are. 😀

I’ll try again, little one asleep so we ventured out alone & walked from Kolios to Kanapitsa. Thinking we might get water taxi into town. All a bit deserted so walked back to road & mamged to squeeze on “sardine “ bus into town. Met up with family for a late breakfast / early lunch at Ergon 😊 Then, as the sun threatened to appear we meandered around the Bourtzi, along the the port & up past Amfiliki to the children’s playground....And, he was asleep!! 😅 Good to know that the playground is open this year 👍 Whilst the little one slept we enjoyed an hour at Cafe Del Mar Later we actually swam in the pool at Theodora 😬 ok , it was a tad bracing Just the 2 of us at LoLa tonight. I can seriously recommend. Night night for now

Is it normal for the buses to be ‘sardine full’ as early as mid-May?

Only if you walk around with a one-year-old. If you don't have that encumbrance, the buses are half empty (definition of an optomist, not even half full ).

yorkshiremouth, the buses were so very busy due to the weather. Cloudy & rain threatened so everyone heading to town. Generally, I believe, not so crowded at this time of the year. Got a bus into town easily just after 7pm Ok, so a difficult day today. Knock on our door just before 9, we were enjoying coffee on balcony, drinking in the beautiful morning. Son took a trip to medical centre at 3am as Grandson’s temp was soaring. Didn’t wake us as didn’t want go worry us !!! So, we stayed around Theodora. Little one really unsettled, well he refused food so we knew he wasn’t well. It’s so hard when you’re away from home with little ones. Another trip to medical centre once paediatrician on duty , full examination & thankfully all’s well, just a summer cold ☺️ Fingered crossed. Ventured up the road to Avli. Mr Smiley as lovely as ever. Wonderful meatballs, spectacular orange pie. Don’t really do deserts but Avli Orange pie 😋 €40 for our share of the bill.

Oh dear - hope he’s much better today, Tre. It’s such a worry when they’re small. Avli sounds good ..... another for the list!

Thursday. Another lovely warm, sunny day. With a nice breeze it was a good day for walking. Started by going up around the back of Theodora to get stunning views down to Kolios. The path takes you back down coming out at the Hermes apartments. Then down by bus stop 12 to Kanapitsa. After liquid refreshment we continued our exercise walking around the peninsula. Meant to do this walk the last couple of years but far too hot in July for us to contemplate. Beautiful views & some rather lovely villas. Coming out at bus stop 13 we decided further refreshments were in order to headed down to Vromolimnos Beach. Almost deserted and sadly Taverna, Porto Paradiso not open. So walked up over the steps to Kolios beach where we enjoyed a lazy lunch. Little one still a bit off it but better than he was. They decided not to eat out so we headed into town. Avlios Yard; opening night. Now the setting is delightful & we have great respect for Despina, (Olive Thea, Rada) but in all honesty it was just an average meal costing more than average price. After discovering we’d missed the last bus (10:30pm) it was €14 Taxi back to Kolios.
