Tre, have you posted a report on your birthday meal at Infinity Blue? If you have, I must have missed it. Bob

Saturday Bus up to 8, Vasilias Beach & Rada Seaside Restaurant around 10:30am There’s a pool bar, with sunbeds & shades. No one, yes no one was there. Felt like our own private pool. Kate knows about this pool but think we ought to keep quiet 🤫 Easy access to the beach but we were happy at the pool. Just after 1pm, family with pre teen children arrived. Lots of blowing up of inflatables & bats & balls were visible. Time for lunch. There are snacks available, served poolside but we opted for a table at Rada. The lovely Despina greeted us like long lost family. Bit of a sharing Meze, & obviously wine. Complimentary wine too! Actually can’t remember the cost, sorry, but all our lunches have been around €25 to €35. Anyway, perfect setting. Lovely day. Later, pre dinner G&T on the Bourtzi followed by dinner at To Manavaki. Chicken Souvlaki x2 with wine €35
Sunday Very lazy birthday morning. Stroll through the town to include a little retail (Dress) therapy. Really love the Pragamata shops. Had intended lunch at Cafe Del Mar but there was insufficient shade. Repeat visit to Taverna Twilight. Another Meze from the appetiser choices. Wine, sparkling water, Grilled Halloumi, stuffed peppers & cheese pies & rocket salad. €25 perfect Infinity Blue booked for 8pm. We leave the Alkyon at 7:20 sooo hot, & decide to treat ourselves to a taxi. NO CHANCE! Queue at the rank is ridiculous. Lady towards the back has been waiting 30 mins. We turn to get the bus, it’s just leaving. Typical Idea, we walk to top of Pap St to jump in a taxi where they drop off. Not tonight. Hovered until 7:40 & decided we may as well get the bus at 4. 7:55, no bus & eventually managed to flag a taxi down. Shared with a couple going to Aegean Suites. The suites, well the entrance looked very nice. Just hate being late. The lovely Maggie from Theodora who we’d invited to join us was waiting patiently. Great table. Fabulous view. It was very busy due to a lovely Boomeranger lady & her family of 17! The usual bread & tapenade served with our drinks. I had the special, sea bass with quinoa potatoes & vegetables. John the Angry Bird Chicken, Maggie the salmon. All wonderful. Fabulous atmosphere & obviously view. €70 total. Finished the evening off at Theodora bar with the lovely family & friends who we’d not seen for a couple of years.

Good to hear that you eventually had a great time. I'm surprised that it was so difficult to get a taxi going out of the town at that time. I'll bet you're glad that your birthday meal was not booked for last night, although IB would be a great place to view the storm. Bob

Monday Set off 10ish & walked to Xanemos Beach. In May this would have be been a lovely walk but July? The heat! Started to get concerned that we’d get there & no sunbeds. 😅 There were only 2 other people. Happily settled on a sunbed & at 11:30 broke the no alcohol before 12 rule. The Mythos went down well. So, all good. Remembering that this beach is at the end if the runway we had phones ready to take snaps. Oh 😬 The powers that be decided this was the day to take off in the “wrong” direction. OMG the blast off sand, dirt & hot air came over the beach like nothing I’ve ever seen 😅 It managed to disperse just before us at the waters edge. There was a couple more then I think the take off’s went back to normal. Great spot to view though & makes you jump out if your skin if you happen to be snoozing 😂 Boring club sandwich at beach Taverna & we decided a taxi back to be a great idea. No phone signal. So, I say to bar person “Could you book us a taxi please?” He replies. Sure I can. We wait.....And Wait... And order another wine. An hour later “Did you book us a taxi?” “No! You asked if I could book one & I can. Do you now want me to book one now? ” 🤷♀️😀😬 Taxi 5 mins later. Another couple snook in to share, said we were together, €10. Much needed dip in Alkyon pool Little India was our evening meal choice. Yes, I know, we’re told we’re in Greece & why would we want an Indian meal, but it was really good. Oh, except the poppadoms were a bit dry. Mixed pakoras to share then I had the special lamb tandoori kebabs & John chicken jalfrezi, with pilau rice. The usual liquid refreshments, €52. Felt in the need of more “liquid” so little nightcap a Archontikos & a catch up with the lovely Gregory.

Hah, the fortunes of fortune! If we had swapped our jimny days round we would have met you at Xanemos. But Monday was Asselinos and Ligaries, Tuesday Xanemos and Platanos.

Oh, I just adopt the lazy approach and hire from the place at the end of our road. It's Auto Europe if that means anything. They have depots in places other than Troulos. Tel 0030 24270 23444. Price was E89 for two days (list price 99, I'm a regular so he says I get discount - I'm sure other people get better prices, but that's not the lazy approach! We only hire for two days - the size of this island we could actually probably do the same travelling in one day. I put 20 Euros worth of fuel in and that covered our 50Km, 2 day, tour. There's a 600 Euro excess on the insurance (I've just noticed). Back in early days they asked if I wanted to pay extra for full cover so I did, 10 Euros, but I don't know if that was good enough. If you've looked at my videos for last year, you'll see I drive slower than a funeral, so derive from that whatever you can.
You could do yourself a horror and ask on FaceBook, where you'll get seventeen pages of conflicting advice - the question comes up about three times a fortnight and no newbies ever read that. Just like none of them read our comments about don't touch a quad with a bargepole because they are specifically excluded from your holiday insurance cover.

15 pages of which are people saying “I’m not telling you. I had to find out for myself, so you should have to, too. A holiday’s an adventure and I’ve decided you’re spoiling it for yourself if I give you the answer, so I’m not going to tell you!” I’m not sure these people have grasped the idea of a discussion group.

Ha ha, you’re so right Re answers to questions of FB. cariad, We always use Victoria on Troulos, they have a place in town too. No idea of costs, I don’t get involved 😀 Years ago though, we hired one as a surprise for our son, €90 for 3 days. So the price Dennis has quoted seems about fair. www.victoriarental.com/

Do you think he was being mischievous Tre? Made me chuckle though. He must have a great command of the English language! 😀 Maybe he does it to everyone so that they buy more drink!

I’m more intrigued by the boring club sandwich, can’t say I’ve ever had a conversation with one 🤔

Did you really expect a club sandwich to talk to a bald bloke? You’re clutching at straws!
