I've asked elsewhere on t'interwb about the possibility of buying a camping chair on Skiathos, like this:
And a parasol.
I sit on something similar when we're on the beach in Wales, and I find it pretty comfy. I tend to sit up on the sun longers rather than laying down, and if I can get one cheap enough it'll be less expensive than hiring sunbeds at 10 euros a day (one of which I wouldn't use).
Anyway, they're too heavy to cheaply fly to Skiathos, so it's a question of buying while I'm there. Suggestions have been:
- There is a fishing shop on hill down from Bus stop 4 going towards Town its on your left. - There’s a shop with similar items to this on the ring road near town, across from the big Ariston bakery. - There’s a big Italian “deli” on the ring road going towards the airport. They sell chairs, sunbeds and every conceivable item you can think of . Don’t know why it’s called a deli, I don’t think they sell what we know as deli items, but it’s Skiathos lol. - They may have them or the big supermarket under the Skiathos Premier in Troulos had chairs and stuff in June. It’s a bit dearer but may be nearer for you. - They had some in the big supermarket sklavanetis a couple of weeks ago. - Maybe shop in koukanaries.
I wouldn't want anyone to go out of their way - holiday time is precious, which is one of the reasons I'm asking.
But IF you find yourself in any of those places, could you take just a few seconds to have a look, and let me know (a) if they have any, and (b) prices.
As I'm stayong at Koukounaries, that'd be best, with town second best. I probably wouldn't stretch to going elewhere, though Troulos is fairly easy there and back by bus, I suppose.
Many, many thanks. But please, only do this if you find yourself in those shops, DO NOT go out of your way.

Then he'd get into a 4 page banter with basil about the fun they had with camping chairs 'back in the day' 😉

Might take my own. Just realised I can do this, as long as I keep within my baggage allowance.
I’ve seen people put fold up prams through before.
Can anyone think of a problem?

Just send us a selfie of you travelling with a fold-up camping chair please, because I can't imagine it.

Uhoh, don't bother, I've just googled to see them coming in carry bags.

Shouldn't be an issue as carry on and they will be cheaper in UK.

I bet the bag is too long to fit in that funny hand baggage measuring boxy thing!

Here at the minute Yorkshiremouth and I was in the supermarket in Koukanaries today, the one beside Agustera - there were no camping chairs like your picture. There were small fold up stools that I can’t imagine would be too comfy on the beach for a day, plus they were sitting on a fold up chair with no arms. No prices attached to either I’m afraid.

Cheers.
I’ve decided against it.
I think the idea is sound, HOWEVER...
I’m only there for a week. That’s really 6 full days. I’m going to be by the pool for 2 or 3. I’m off ‘in land’ exploring for 1 or 2.
Subsequently, I might only be on the beach for 1 or 2 days, 3 tops.
I might still change my mind, though. I’m like that.
Thanks for everyone input.

I popped into Deli Skiathos today - OMG! What a treasure trove. I was going to say they stock everything but the kitchen sink, but they have that too 😄. Through pigeon English & whichever bird Greek, I sussed out that the folding canvas type chairs are 12 euros, for anyone else thinking along the same lines as Yorkshire Mouth. Seriously though, if you are in that area and have 20 mins to spare, pop in! It’s an experience! Not one spare foot of floor space is bare, it’s fascinating!
