FB groups have been plagued by 'Skiathos is getting very expensive' threads and posts.
I had my own opinions, but thought I'd wait until I'd been to see if it was my experience.
From my own perspective, through the prism of my week there, what a load of tosh! To be fair I didn't write down the prices the last time I was there for comparison, nor did I write down any prices this time for future reference. But I didn't once pick up a bill and say "HOW MUCH!", not did I order anything where I'd been before and feel prices were higher.
Seemed pretty much the same to me.

We have been going to Skiathos for over 20 years and in that time have seen prices increase, but for the last few years prices have to us seemed to have remained about the same some of the boomers on FB who say the spend a 100+ euro a day seems silly to us we don't skimp but spend less than half that we eat out every evening use beach sunbeds the bus sometimes taxis and have a lunch, what we don't do is spend time in bars drinking but we have a drink or two with our evening meal.

Apart from wine with my meal, I almost always drink beer (Mythos, Alpha, Fix), and the prices are very low.
I'm lucky enough to drink in a pub in Huddy where a decent lager is only £3.85 a pint. Greek beer in most bars is around 3-3.50 Euros. Considering it's a tourist resort that's not expensive in anyone's book.

We thought skiathos was cheaper this year. The last three years we have been to stoupa which is very cheap to eat out because they do not have to ferry food in. Previously we had stayed in town, this time kolios its so much cheaper to eat out of town. we had some excellent main courses for 8 euros, wine was 8-9 euros litre house wine we used to pay 12 in town. we did spend 100 euros a day or more but that included some breakfasts lunch every day dinners, new ring & earrings lots of cigarettes to brink back, honey and some lovely pottery and donation to skiathos cats.

We (Vera) have a money chart which has remained unchanged for several years. We buy £1600 worth of Euros each visit and come back with some. So I'd say we spend about 100 a day, but that's all including everything, bus, jeep, eat in food, meals out, drinks, new (girl's) clothes, Mavrodaphne, gifts to bring home. Absolutely everything.
Every visit, Vera gets the list out and we use it to buy that visit's Euros - £500 each and £600 for the communal food purse. But we are very relaxed about it - we will both buy some food (and Mavrodaphne and origami crisps) and the jeep comes out of the communal pot.
So we feel the prices have changed very little over our years. It amuses me when I read the FB Boomers complaining about the price of cocktails - they seem to pay more for one little cocktail than I pay for a bottle of M.
