Well, I hesitate to criticise I love Skiathos group for poor behaviour because you might think I’m biased after being banned from there before most of you were born. But they really do have a poor record of Moderation. However, I hasten to add, it’s not much worse than or different from FB Boomerangers. It’s not that long ago that Boomerangers were warned that posts doing gloom about Skiathos would be deleted. Personally I don’t see any harm in it BECAUSE I think we do it in order to announce our sadness AND to offer up hope for the future. Just saying. I am not a member of any social media platforms but am just wondering Dennis, when you refer to ‘Boomerangers were warned that posts doing gloom about Skiathos would be deleted’,are you referring to a FB group or this Boomerang forum?

As ever, David Mitchell nails it:
And this 'last week of the season' thing is so similar.
We're supposed to figure out that, when Jet2 & TUI say the last week is 1st-8th October, what they mean is that it's 25th September-2nd October, that the 3rd-8th October is closing down time, and we should be able to work that out for ourselves.
If they want to close on 2nd October, they should feel free. Who am I to stop them? I'll come that week instead. Just don't half-close on the 2nd, but say you're closing on the 8th, then have a bunch of tourists to pay for your staff to get busy closing everything down around them.
It was amazing, the number of staff who were literally closing up - removing sun loungers, etc - when there was a bar closed because there was no one to work at it.
I was quite literally paying them to not serve me, but to do something else instead!

Deleting of Gloom posts was Facebook.
Good old David Mitchell can be relied upon to make a short story long(er than I can!)

So, I’ve booked for next year *.
I was already booked for spring, but I’m now also booked for September. That’s the penultimate week of the season.
I feel sad, because all of the bars and tavernas I visited were half full (apart from Marmita) and all very happy for the custom. If others make the same decision, this’ll mean more and more closing for the full last week. That week then becomes less attractive, and…
Well, as I said, it’s a vicious circle.
* Only I didn’t. I mused that I was going to do it. Julie thought it was a great idea, but felt a bit guilty leaving the kids and the dog, so she green lit me to go solo. I had a look, found Sunset at a good price, and texted a link as an exemplar as to how much it might cost. Next thing I know, she’d booked me in! Bless her.

Hopefully next year ‘ some kind of normal’ will have stepped up a gear, we’re looking at flying to Athens at the end of April then on to Skiathos for a couple of weeks or so. We’ve not booked yet because if we decide to have a longer stay on the island we may look for an apartment rather than our usual hotel, however the jury is very much still out,.

I rather suspect that the passenger locator forms will be in place for some time to come. What needs sorting before next major holiday seasons is for different countries to agree a form which is consistent in its format, what information is strictly necessary and there should be some consistency about how far in advance the form can be submitted, preferably a bit longer than 48 hours.

Totally agree Kev, although I feel that the UK form is the one that needs simplifying, seems at present that you duplicate the same information numerous times, for what purpose?

Yes Dave, I found the outgoing one to Greek gov much more straightforward than th eone required to come back to UK and they allowed you to send it in much further in advance of the holiday. I can see why some things you fill in might have changed but mostly not. Having to fill in forms for both myself and mum in addition to sorting out our visit to get tested before coming back was a bit of a chore. I would have resented that time 'lost' if we'd only been there for a week.
