Wednesday (slightly hijacked by above). It was dry all night and same when we awoke, no weather since early evening yesterday despite the weather app and national emergency alert both forecasting dire-ness. So I got up, dressed and off to the supermarket to join all the damned tourists clearing out the shelves like panic buying back home. Bought €68+ of anything I could lay hands on, so we can survive any further apocalypse-ness. We all had breakfasts in Appaloosa then off to the walk mentioned above. Very sad to see evidence of Storm Daniel (grandson’s name, maybe he had something to do with it). Thanos studios sitting on muddy bases and paths, their pool full of mucky water. A few of their guests were actually joining in the cleanup operation, sweeping and shovelling willingly. Almira Hotel had seen one set of guests have a lucky escape when their door wall fell in on them. Their pool was brown too, as was Astoria Hotel. Troulos beach had a new lagoon washed out by the water going down the access road.
Yesterday we called at Ratatouille to book for tonight and were told no bookings in this weather, turn up, first come first served. So Vera and I went early to get the first come thing, only to be turned away with the information that they were saving all tables for their own hotel guests. We went round to Jasteri, but it was full, so we went to Salt and Pepper which took us in easily. Their tzatziki was a designer version which we remembered from our last visit and was the reason why we haven’t been since - tzatziki should be thick white glop tasting well of garlic, this one was a moulded round cake with specks of designer colour and with little chunks of raw carrot and some other hard things. It started to rain as we left and we got ‘home’ slightly damp, odd flashes of lightning and rumbles of thunder, but it felt like it was just teasing and has gone quiet by now (10pm).
