Hi all Will be arriving in Skiathos for first time on 15 May this year. First night on Skiathos before catching ferry to Skopelos for 6 nights then back to Skiathos for remaining 7 nights. Looking forward to discovering both islands so any tips from you regular visitors would be greatly appreciated:-). Been in touch with the SCWA and hope to give them some of my time whilst I am on Skiathos

Hi Amy, welcome to the forum. That's great that you want to give some time for the Skiathos Cats Welfare Society during your holiday. Sharon always wants help feeding and caring for the cats. Try and make it to see her and the cats at her house. It is amazing to be surrounded by 20-40 cats. You have got to look before moving or sitting ?. I have just had an email from SCWS stating that they need volunteers in May. If you PM me, I can give you her Tel No and email, unless you already have it. Woody

Hi Woody, thanks for the welcome. I am in touch with Julie from Skiathos cats after I came across their website a couple of weeks ago. She has just sent me the letter & telephone number for Thomas Cook regarding extra luggage so that I may bring some supplies with me. Will see what happens when I contact them today. Looking forward to my visit. Not long now. Heared so much about the island :-)

Amy, I don't know if you do Facebook, but the SCWA Facebook page can be found here.

Unfortunately I don't do Facebook, Twitter or any of the social network sites Woody! Much prefer phone, email & face to face but thanks anyway. You would not believe how long it took me and how many attempts I made to post my first ever thread on a forum! Lol.

OK, Amy, you've got over the hurdle of the first post. Please develop that and tell us more so that you get some practice. Like how did you find Skiathos and Skopelos and the Cat stuff?

Hi Dennis, I responded to you this morning and just as I got near the end of my prose, my, tablet had a hissy fit, threw me off the forum and deleted everything I had typed! Grrhh :’-( . In fact it has just thrown me off again! So I will post this, gather my thoughts and respond properly.

That's OK Amy - new technology for you. I have to go watch the footie now, but I'll take my laptop and keep an eye open for a prose.

Hi Dennis strictly speaking this is my third posting on a forum so getting easier. :-) but perfection it is not! I wasn't intending holidaying in the Sporades this year, I had my heart set on Paros, but the thought of a 4 hour ferry from Athens or a 4 hour wait for an interior flight made me rethink my plans. I have a neighbour who visited Skiathos for 3 years running and a family member who has been visiting twice a year for at least 5 years so I decided I would see what the draw was. As I don't normally visit a place more than once (too many places in Greece) hence some time in Skopelos also.
I came across the cat charity whilst checking out everything Skiathos. I have 2 of my own so thought it would be good to give a few hours whilst I was on the island. Anyone who cares for animals gets my vote every time and the work the society does is worthwhile.
Enjoy the footie.

Hooray! Welcome again, Amy. Nice prose too. Remember, there are more toilets on the plane than in the arrivals lounge. Forgive me, but as a garden lover, I don't like cats or dogs - I could get on with them if they didn't visit and leave calling cards, but sadly my location is open house for them. But it's OK for you to be nutty about them and there are lotsa other nutters on here too, so you'll be in good company and they'll all love to hear your soppy cat stories. There's a great big fat cat at our accommodation, Villa Maria in Troulos, and I tease the daughter there by saying I like cats - with chips. I like koi carp if that counts for animal lover - I have eleven. Sadly, they seem to like tadpoles, so in spite of me telling them not to, they eat them every year, so I haven't had any new baby frogs for years. Arsenal are winning 1-0, but if they can't score another two, they are going out on aggregate. Doesn't matter, I don't support them anyway. I don't support anybody - it's just that footie on telly is a good excuse for crisps and pop! Your next project is another prose in a thread/topic created by you somewhere else than in the welcome area.

Dennis, I burst out laughing at the first line of your reply but I must admit that neither venue appeals! I also have to state that being a koi carp enthusiast does not count as an animal lover. Don't they forget who you are after 7 seconds?
Know what you mean about calling cards, try and tell my 2 that you don't go in your own garden, like talking to a brick wall! :-) still, I can forgive them their indiscretions, it is my dog walking neighbours I have a problem with who seem to think it is ok to leave their doggy bags between my wall & fence that I object to! But enough about that.
I am happy to accept your challenge but fear you have some time to wait until my visit to the islands on 15 May. Will be happy to regale you about my adventures as a solo traveller to your beloved Skiathos (and not so beloved Skopelos). :-)
I will leave you with this thought "cat & chips .....Much prefer fish (carp) & chips"
:-)

OK Amy, we shall all look forward to your posts/s in the Feedback forum. You could pass a bit of time readiing some of previous years' feedbacks to get a flavour?
Please remember, I don't like text posts - do prepositions and adverbs and articles and stuff - none of this "went out saw something good lol" - fill in all the words, makes much more enjoyable reading.
I've never been to Paros, but Poros I have.

Hi Dennis I accept your challenge - but must warn you that .I am not the short text type of person . I once sent a letter to a friend and the first line of the response was "I thought you had been to WH Smith & purchased a copy of how to make friends & influence people". I have to admit it was 17 pages long! Those were the days!
Yes I have visited the feedback forum - found yours very entertaining. Don't think I will be able to match your level of witticism but will try and make it as enjoyable as possible.
