The boat Agios Nikolaos goes Monday and Thursday. To Skopelos, then Alonissos and back to Skiathos town. About two hours stopover in each port.
Trip hostess is called Victoria who does commentary in three (or more) languages and is very informative. She also does brief tours/trips during the stopovers if you want to do them.
We shall go yet again on our holidays this year, it is so enjoyable. We have seen dolphins on every trip we've done.
We book on the harbourside a day or two or three in advance. Staying in Troulos, our only problem is we don't have time to do our early morning swim before rushing off to get the bus into town to catch the boat.

So I would need to go into skiathos town to book then?

If you have a holiday tour rep I'm sure he/she will LOVE to book you in - there was a couple on the boat last September who did just that. It cost them both an arm and a leg each, for which they got coach transfers to and from town.
We booked on the harbour (we go into town on the bus most days anyway) and saved enough to pay for our evening meal. But we ARE mean AND at the welcome meetings the reps no longer give out free ouzos. It takes all sorts!

I thought the Ag Nik boat went out most days but Monday and Thursday is when guide Victoria is on board.
If you go down to the old harbour (paralia) find where the Ag Nik boat is moored and Dimitris will be there selling tickets for the trip, much cheaper than through a rep, he will also run through the details with you.
