Hahaha, Dennis! That half a jacket is actually an artfully arranged scarf draped over my shoulder - has your usual sartorial dress sense deserted you today?!!!! (That photo was taken a couple of years ago in the Yves St Laurent garden in Marrakesh - a fabulous place.) As I said earlier in the post, the beach in my photo is Ambelakia/Abelakia - often now known as Mystique. It's at the other end of Koukounaries beach, going towards the Bananas & you can scramble over the rocks if you've got very tough feet & don't mind getting a bit wet. We always used to walk down past the deserted hotel, but now it's being renovated I imagine that the access through there will only be for hotel guests. When we first discovered the beach the lady collecting the bed money used to appear out of the sea from Kouk direction, holding her skirts aloft - the problem being that she didn't seem to like wearing any undies ......... scary!!!

It's still Amberlekia to me. I didn't realise they were renovating the Xenia. Xenia Hotel in 2006 Amberlekia Beach in 2006 Amberlekia Beach in 2007

I think that beach has as many different spellings as that Kouk place! 😄 Bob

That's exactly how it was when we first 'found' the beach - with the pinchy plastic beds! (Some with straps missing). We first visited Koukounaries in 2004 & have been every year except 2009 (when we had to go to Mexico instead).
Such a heavenly beach - a shame it's going to get even busier. (Is that selfish of me?)

Dennis ..... you probably didn't have your wits about you. Bob I'm afraid I don't do wits Bob - they're a youth thing. That French scarf from Marrakesh really looks like half a jacket.

Ooooh Dennis, that made me a lot! I think (hope) that it's a brooch & not a present from above.

Great photos Kate, I used to love those plastic strip sunbeds they had a bit of 'give' in them for folk with sore backs AND arm rests for when you're reading a book, everything you could need on a beautiful beach WITH umbrellas that could be tilted - aah for the good old days .. I know what you are thinking .. something about a grumpy old g..

Not grumpy at all, Kathos! I always managed to pinch myself on the strips, somehow ....... I am known for being a bit clumsy, tho!

Does anyone else love this place? A clue to where it is - great value food and hasn't been open for all that many years (probably about 3-4). Paul is on the far right of the photo - patiently/hungrily waiting for me to stop charging round taking pics!
