Have been back a few days now and already planning for next year, we stayed in kolios as usual and dined a few times at diamond taverna excellant value for money as i expected from this great family run taverna, other nights we walked into agia paraskevi and tried kohyli taverna, orsa next to bus stop 16,pegasus,boubounakia (great pizza) and our favourite this year was kipos a new taverna only open this year, not a large menu but everything we had was delicious.we were talking to the sons of christos the owner of kohyli and they told us he had been involved in a very serious motorbike accident and had been transferred to volos and was in a coma so if anyone hears any news could they post it on this site,
For the last 3 years we have looked for the donkey sanctuary taken all roads, followed various signs ask tourists and locals never found it, if you read this post woody any chance of putting it on map, soula at diamond apartments didnt know where it was

Hi Phil, thanks for that report from another Kolios fan. I've enjoyed eating at Diamond Studios as well, although my favourite is Infinity Blue. You mentioned Kipos.Where is that? There was an update on Chris on the Old Boomerangers Facebook page yesterday, saying that he was being moved to a hospital in Larissa and suggesting that his recovery could be about 8 months. Unfortunately it looks as though he has an uphill battle on his hands. Bob

Wow Phil! If the locals don't know where the donkey sanctuary, then it must be well hidden. I certainly have never seen it. If you find out I would be more than willing to put it on the map. #Lovedonkeys
Glad you enjoyed the Diamond taverna. Christos and Soula are good friends even though we haven't been there for 3 years and they are excellent hosts. We love staying there. #WeMustReturnTheBedSheetWeAccidentallyBroughtHomeLastTime

That's terrible news about Christos! Thanks for posting Phil and for the update Bob. I was only speaking to him in June, whilst I was there. His family must be so worried.
Bob, Kipos opened in June. If you head for Mastraili (spelling!) But bear left on lane before climbing up to it, Kipos is just a little further along. It used to be a supermarket and is now run by the son and daughter of the original owner - very welcoming people.

Phil, I put a request for info re the Donkey Sanctuary on the Old Boomerangers Facebook page. I got one response which said that there is an FB site so I checked it and the information given there is to go to BS 16 and follow the signs on the lampposts. It says that it is about 40 minute walk from the main road. Another response puts it in the same area and says go past the Maistralli and Calma restaurants then fork right at the tree with the hole. I hope this helps. If you do Facebook their site is Donkey Club Skiathos. Bob

I know that you are back home now Phil, but the latest couple of posts say that the sanctuary is closed for the season. I don't understand how that works as I would have thought that the donkeys would need been cared for 365 days of the year. Bob
