As I end the day, it is now supposedly 8 days to go. However, I don't work on the last day, which is a week tomorrow, so effectively it's only a week to go (because today doesn't count now, does it?)
I have no intention of starting my feedback in advance of arrival so I'll just entertain you with my latest achievement. A few years ago, I did a collection from River Cottage and spotted Hugh Fernley Whittingstall's red landrover, but he wasn't there. I now go to Skiathos and still haven't seen Goldie Hawn, despite the fact I've told George at Salt and Pepper if she ever comes in and there's no free tables, she can join me. I've done deliveries to Poldark film locations and to Casualty and The White Princess, but never seen anybody. I did one day get a free lunch from the catering truck. So today when I went to Cornwall for Doc Martin I hoped, but without much expectation. But I saw him! Doc Martin. And policeman Joe. And policeman Joe's blue police landrover. I was beside myself with glee. Hottest June day for 42 years and Doc Martin was in his blue suit. Policeman Joe was in his policeman outfit.

Love it Dennis Believe you me, just the humour I needed today!! Exactly 12 months ago today I left my work (Job Centre, DHSS for 40 year!) for the last time. No regrets. Not looking for the sympathy vote, but I made that decision to devote more time to Mum. (Dementia, again not looking for sympathy) Hence our Skiathos holiday in (how many days.......) is so much looked forward to

I worked in one when they were still called Labour Exchanges. After quite a few years previously serving Her Majesty, I was shocked to hear a female member of staff swear - at that time I thought only horrible rough servicemen swore, but NEVER in front of a woman. I didn't last long - partly displeased that the lads I was offering work to were turning down jobs which paid more than I was getting, and partly because they made me Finance Officer and balancing the cash every week was a nightmare (it was long before decimalisation and whilst a colleague could run his finger down all three columns at once and get the right total, I would for ages with the manager tut tutting behind me!)

If you retired last year after 40 years there, I had left before you started. I was there before unemployment rate doubled to over 600,000!

Gosh it's getting exciting now, it's almost down to minutes - it's certainly only hours to go now.
I had my holiday haircut a fortnight ago and he did my ears and eyebrows. Suitcases are coming out of the loft this morning. I printed off the boarding cards and valet parking docket days ago. I always check the weather every day so I don't need to worry about that. I hope tweed's wee one has been doing lots of wees in the sea to warm up Troulos beach for us, but if she hasn't, I'm still going swimming there at 8am on Saturday (might be a bit late if we meet previous acquaintances, and the goats past Sunrise, on the walk down there). Strewth, I'm really doing gleeful now!

Ha ha, I try not to encourage her Dennis, the sea is lovely once you're in. I will be so sad when you arrive as we will be leaving the same day but looking forward to your great reports.

Gleeful, what a wonderful way to describe your excitement about your visit. Maybe I've missed it, but have you posted your flight details, for once you will be the tracked ,rather than the tracker.

Friday, Birmingham 07:10, flight TOM7534 (often reclassified as BY7534 and sometimes as TOM44A, but that's the individual aircraft, so it wouldn't work if they used a different one) and it always takes off half an hour late (GRRRR), but gets there on time 12:40 local time. And it never seems to broadcast until it's well after takeoff (you'll never see it on the ground taxiing for takeoff). By the time you get tracking, I'll probably be into my Baileyses (is that the plural of Baileys?).

Dennis - what date do you fly out in September? We've just booked an extra fortnight & I think we may overlap by a couple of days. (We go on 30 Aug & come home on 13 Sept.
