Day 7: woke up to guess what; yep wall-to-wall sun. Tre informs me it's only getting hotter with Friday and Saturday being real scorchers 🌞 I might be hibernating in a bar 😜
It was good to see Christie and Soula yesterday, unfortunately we arrived at The Diamond way before the Taverna opened so another visit tonight is on the cards.
We had a chat and a couple of drinks with them, which they wouldn't accept any payment for and plodded off towards the bus 🚌 stop. We'd only got 100 yards and Soula pulled up in her car, told us to get in and drove us back to Taxiarchis; how kind was that?
We didn't venture any further then. Stayed at base, had a few drinks, a snack and then an earlyish night.
We have no plans to do much today, just a bus ride to Kolios this evening 😬

Taverna owners treating you as old friends, then giving you a lift back to town, Many similar stories over the years, It's not only the islands beauty, but also warmth and friendly nature of locals that help make Skiathos a special place.

So lovely. Time to get really excited now. Phil, did I mention that our son Dom & his "lads" stayed at the Diamond the night before his wedding last year. We picked them up to a round of applause from guests on the balcony Fabulous memories. 3 July 2016 Still not packed but sorted, Happy Thursday

Day 8. We finally managed to eat at The Diamond Taverna last night; it didn't disappoint, the food was fantastic. Liz had a Lamb Kleftico and I had the Meatballs. Both dishes were very very good. If you haven't been before I highly recommend it; it's 300m past Infinity Blue.
What shall we do today? You might be noticing a certain pattern here when I say "not a lot." We don't like to 'push our limits' when away. I fancy a stroll around the Plakes area; getting lost and seeing if we stumble across any hidden gems but I'm not sure that will fit in with Liz's plans.
Everybody flying out tomorrow I hope you have a pleasant and safe journey.

Had a meal at Sakis Taverna tonight. It's on the opposite side of the street to Koziacis (spelling); the place with all the meat being spit roasted is. We had an excellent meal; 2 course's, a litre of wine and 2 Mythos for under 40€. It's a deal, it's a steal, it's sale of the century 😀😀😀

Can't picture Sakis at all. Walked down there just over a week ago. Is it new?

No Kate; we chatted with the owner. He's been there for 10 years.

Friday 30th June: Woke up hot and sticky, it was stifling in our room. A further inspection revealed we had no electricity in the whole building and the air-con was off along with the fridge. Not the best start to the day but it was soon rectified and normal service resumed 😀
It's Friday; the halfway point of the holiday. Where has the first week gone? Only feels like yesterday we we're fighting our way through throngs of people in Gatwick South Terminal.
It's been a fantastic first week; Skiathos has always held a special place in my heart ❤️ I really can't explain why it's been 12 long years before we returned. One thing I'm certain about is won't another 12 before our third visit.
What shall we do today? It is Friday so we may have a wander to the airport for a bit of landing/take-off action.

Yeah, well, you've got time to get to the airport - we're still on the ground, already an hour behind time at Birmingham!
