Hi - I'm new! Thanks for letting me join. I've just returned from my 6th trip to Skiathos. I spend quite a lot of time snorkelling round Little Banana beach, and this time I saw a fish I'd never seen before. There were two of them, lurking around the big rock in the sea, the one I dive from. They were red, bright red, with dark heads, and they looked sort of frilly. I've tried to find them on t'Internet, and the nearest thing I can find is a Randall's triplefin, but it said that these are found only in Indonesia. I showed them to someone else, so it wasn't just my imagination! Has anyone else seen them? Anyone know what they are? Thanks! Brenda

Sorry Brenda, apart from Nemo I can't help - I mustn't get my hair wet. Now if they were on a plate next to some nice chips........?

Don't think they'd make much of a meal - they were only about 5 inches long!

How about a Black headed blenny? However wiki says they don't get more than a couple of inches.

The OP's description was 'bright red with dark heads' and 'sort of frilly' which isnt far off the black headed blenny (mediterranean fish) but there will be other possibilities. Feel free to come up with alternatives.

Feel free to come up with alternatives. A poorly baby sea trout?
