First of all let me say how pleased Angela and I are with Villa Maria - the studio is basic (as expected) but spacious and equipped with more than we will need. Like the rest of the property it is very clean.
We had our first meal of the holiday at Kalivis - thanks for the tip Dennis - excellent moussaka and swordfish - including starters of tzaziki and fried courgettes plus a bottle of retsina only 32.70 - a steal!
Spent our first full day by the pool - very peaceful - but strolled down to the Troulos Grill for a lunch of gyros in pitta - plus beers only 12 euro - I like the prices here.
Rounded the day off with a meal at Jasteris - kalamari disappointing but the stifado was excellent - slightly more expensive at 52 euro but we did have additional drinks so no complaints about this.
Only real disappointment so far is that I have not been able to have my favourite kleftiko - I don't like cheese with it and both restaurants said that it was already in the dish and not possible to have it without the cheese. First time in over 25 years of holidaying in Greece!
That's it for now but I hope my ramblings are of interest to you readers.
Bob

Have you negotiated a rebate on you room because of having Dennis as a neighbour?

Actually, Kev, it's usually extra for a room next to me for the early morning calls to go to the beach.

Another lazy day by the pool with a homemade lunch on our balcony. Every now and then the peace is interrupted by the ever jovial Dennis - couldn't ask for better neighbours - honest.
Dinner at Ratatouille - the tzaziki was slightly lacking in garlic but the spetsofai starter was to die for (cannot understand why it is not on more restaurant menus) lemon and oregano lamb was the choice for both of us and as well as being delicious it was enormous - I can see the plane listing a little on our return flight. With the usual extra drinks and retsina it all came to a respectable 57 euro.
Must tear myself away from the tablet now as another sunny day is calling for me - and SWMBO!

Apologies for the lack of reports - have very quickly fallen into a very lazy holiday mood. It is so peaceful here that it is very easy to forget everything.
Just noticed that I have been changed to a junior member - it's a long time since I have been a junior anything!

Will not attempt to give a detailed blow by blow account of the last few days. Nipped into town and bought some new sandals - a very comfortable pair that I have had for a few years just fell apart on my first day - these Skiathos roads must be very tough on everything.
A few more lunches on the balcony, at the Troulos Grill and also at the place in town claiming to have the best gyros - could be right- more research needed.
Excellent meals at Villa Rosa (Mama Rosas Beef is divine) and at Ratatouille (more spetsofai) and I also found that I could get my kleftiko without cheese - great excitement only to be brought down to earth with a big bump when it turned out to be a very, very poor excuse for the dish. The other dishes were mediocre as well so will not be eating with Captain Nikos again.
Need to go and catch a few more rays as thunderstorms are predicted for Sunday.

Waved the invalid off - will miss his humorous over the wall comments.
To make a bit of a change we caught the bus to koukanaries (is that the correct spelling) and then the fast boat to town. More gyros research for lunch and booked the sunset trip for Wednesday.
Return buses were packed and not stopping at BS4 so caught one going in the other direction which meant we had seats - well worth the extra few euros.
Beautiful swordfish at Kalivis helped round off the day.
Saturday was a lazy day by the pool- again - making the most of the sun in case the threatened clouds and rain actually appear.
A poor start - servicewise - at Nectar & Ambrosia but things improved and we enjoyed our meal so much that we booked for Tuesday evening. Best tzaziki and moussaka of the holiday so far and my youvetsi was excellent. Was told that on our next visit I will be able to have kleftiko without cheese so hopefully the standard will be the same.
The sky is marred by white and grey stuff this morning so we will have to see what the day brings.

Due to the change in the weather I have nothing exciting to report. We were very disappointed to miss out on the 4x4 trip that we had booked and also a planned viewing of Mama Mia. No time to reschedule unfortunately.
However we had enjoyable meals at Villa Rosa and Ratatouille plus a bonus lunch of eggs and chips at Christiakis - a pleasant change.
It was interesting to see the deep channel the rain had cut into the beach from the path down to Troulos Bay - shows how much there was - I estimate almost a foot deep.
The big question for me is where does everyone go when the weather lets us down? During the day there were a few people wandering around but in the evening the restaurants seemed comparitively empty. With the reduced seating I expected them to be full.
Same thing tonight - Salt and pepper was almost empty and Nectar & Ambrosia was too - also all of those in the vicinity but they are not normally so full. We had a good meal at N&A but sorry to say that the kleftiko was better but not up to the standard I have had on other islands. It was more like a lamb hotpot - perhaps it varies around Greece.
Only a couple of days left before our return home but the weather shows positive signs of improving so fingers crossed for a good ending.

Glad to hear that you sound like you've maximised the "bad weather" experience. We were there early May & felt like we lost a day due to the weather. 24 hours of wall to wall rain & actually very cold! Sugar coated only because we knew we were returning in July. We lingered early morning in the apartment, ran to the shop between showers to get supplies, enjoyed more than a few drinks at the apartment bar. Enjoyed a beach walk, well wrapped up when there was a break in the rain & taxied into town with umbrellas for the evening. One September, when staying in town, we had to go through the motions of packing & going to the airport for our flight home. The rain was torrential & we seriously knew we would not be leaving. Yeh!! At 4pm announcement made; another night in a skiathos AND, the rain had stopped!!

I sneaked a cheap week in Rhodes in early May this year and even that far south it wasn't very warm in the evenings. Had a really bad storm one night which on inspection the next day had ripped off part of the roof over the pool bar area. Took them all morning to dredge debris out of the pool.
