23 degrees, bright sunshine, light breeze in Yorkshire.
But I'm stuck in work.

Yep me too, can only look at it out of the window from 3 floors up so I think Di is still having the best of it!

Sunday. Wash out Sunday indeed. Never seen rain like it and so cold, first time ever not packed a small cardigan, rookie error. Wouldnt take car out as road outside was a river so a day of reading, drinking coffee at bar and going stir crazy in room. Booked Ratatouille and dashed round there early between showers, got seated earlier and glad we did as the power went off as we were drinking in the bar area later. Candles and phone torches galore was funny but maybe not for the kitchen staff and diners halfway through their meals. Back to our place where oddly the electric was on still but off in town too? Bed for us glad to see back of this day but cant really complain only day of rain in 4 visits.. π¬

Di, it sounds as though you subscribe to the old saying "Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain!" Bob

Although we had our cut after we left Ratatouille - if it was Monday we must have been there about the same time.

It's one of the consolations of being a small island near a large mainland in that whatever inclement weather you do get tends to blow over pretty quickly. You have to be very unlucky for rain to just 'sit' on the island for days at a time (maybe during th winter?). Fingers crossed that's the last you see of it. I had a brief shower of rain while I was packing for home on my first visit in 2012 but it had stopped by the time I got the bus. Took a mate in 2013 and first full day we were walking from Kouk up to Mandraki beach and got a fairly strong shower just as we got to the beach shack so we all huddled under the leaking roof drinking beer. The staff dashed out and brought in beach brolleys and put them up inside under the thatch roof which gave us all about a foot of headroom. All blew over in an hour and we never saw rain again all week.

Tuesday... weather more back to normal, a little cloudy and but perfect to have a drive around and after just a cuppa and a biscuit we set off to find once again the beautiful remote church of Ag Alexandros found on the way to Kechria beach turning off beforehand and bouncing along the dirt tracks to get to it. It really is the most beautiful place to be, very rare anyone is there at the same time just a pity it is locked as no other churches have been we have found. Many photographs later and we decided to try once more Kechria beach, we got to it, parked up only to be moved by someone from the taverna as we must have blocked where the workers or deliveries go so after just ten mins decided its not for us, no sand and rocky area to get into the sea so we went away from the other side which took us to Ligares. I decided we could try this taverna for lunch and it was the best decision as Dennis will testify. We felt like this was a real taste of Greece in every sense.. a simple lunch of Greek salad, traditional cheese pie with especially for me dishes of honey and sesame seeds on the side to use as I pleased. And it really did, with the tastiest bread we have had so far and the warmest welcome and service, we were in silent joy we really were. Dennis how tasty is everything in that salad bowl? Mick wasnt a lover of GS before but boy did he enjoy this.. sublime. With 2 cans of sprite the bill was β¬17 and would have been worth it if twice the price. Even a lovely shared complimentary plate of greek yoghurt, honey and crushed biscuits, I cant remember a meal making me more happy and if thats sad Im honoured to wear that title! Now this is where it went pear shaped awhile as the dirt tracks back to where we thought or hoped would take us ended up being a big maze and we finished back down the lane at Ag Paraskevi platanos area good grief! Anyhoo back to base a swim in the pool before getting ready to go eat at Lynhari taverna in town which I had booked later in the afternoon. Terrible trying to park in town again around 7-30/7-45 time so once again behind the Alkyon hotel in the dusty car park. A wonderful meal quite a bit more expensive tonight but the quality and service first class has to be said. We were glad of the walk back through town to settle our stomachs and decide we are going to give starters a miss the next few meals. Very busy drive back to base where we enjoyed drinks and laughs with fellow guests especially two lovely ladies who came on our flight too. Boudouriani really is a lovely place run by an equally lovely family they really are... So tomorrow is another day, in paradise. There's a song there somewhere π

There's no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing.

Sorry not updated on here the days are just whizzing past!! Wednesday Kanapitsa beach in the morning, lunch in apartment, pool area in the afternoon and had our evening meal in Jasteri just over the road, was nice food cant remember everything we had (Ive got a wine headache this morning Im afraid)... π Thursday went into town and had a lovely mooch around looking for a certain scarf/wrap for my daughter in Aus as they are travelling to Russia from there next month to attend the wedding of hubby's brother to a Russian girl and the ladies are required to cover shoulders and heads during the wedding ceremony. I took photo's of a few and sent them to her but oddly she had just managed to find the perfect one in Perth city, anyway as I stupidly hadnt brought anything with sleeves I purchased one for myself in case I felt in the evening. We walked up the steps and booked Obatis for evening meal so back into town that evening. I had my first Kleftico of the holiday and Mick chose Pork slouvaki, both meals were lovely Im trying to remember our starters.... anyway the bill with our usual drinks was around β¬45.... back to our bar for last drinks after a scary drive home gosh some nights the road is so busy and Mick scared me overtaking the buses... they are jam packed every single one we have seen from say 5pm.. personally I wouldnt like to rely on them in July. Friday Kolios beach which was lovely but the water felt so cold brrrr.. we had our swims though then back to apt for baguettes and cup of tea! Round pool area where we met lovely Lindsey from the FB boomerang page, a Troulos regular but first time at Boudouriani, I hope she enjoys it here as much as we do. Had a couple of small beers which is unlike us for afternoon round the pool one is my limit, maybe theyre the cause of my headache?!? Decided on Vareli for evening meal, it was very busy in there and I managed to ask Rosemary if she had heard what happened to Dennis, she hadnt and was horrified and sends you all her love Dennis! Back to our bar where we sat with a lovely couple, in their 70's and have been coming here almost 20 years.. Tony and Irene, Tony is the funniest guy so witty I got tummy ache laughing at his life stories, such a lovely man π The two ladies came back too and we all had a lively couple of hours especially when a strange smell appeared and poor ileas was frantically rushing around the complex trying to sort it out poor guy. 1.15am finally to bed so another night of no updating so please be grateful Im doing this with a hangover! Never again..... π¬
