You can find watersports facilities in most of the main beaches on the southern side of Skiathos. Off the top of my memory, these are, from east to west: Megali Ammos, Vassilias, Achladies, Kanapitsa, Vromolimnos, Agia Paraskevi, Troulos, Koukounaries, Agia Eleni. I would definitely recommend checking out Megali Ammos Watersports. Their facilities and equipment are excellent, and so is their friendly service. For more information you can check out their facebook page and their website, which is currently down for reconstruction but expected to go online by the end of July.

Any one know where to hire a self drive motor boat taking 6 people for a day? Most I know or have found state their boats are for 4 to 5 people only. Thanks.

I was going to say Kanapitsa Beach, but I'm not sure how many people they hold.

Thanks Woody, but assuming that's Stefano's their site says only 4 - 5. If you do happen to hear of anyone, let us know? Thanks.

Hi Stevenval, boat capacity is limited due to size of boat and engine allowable for hire. A handful of larger boats are available if and only if the hirer has RYA level 2 certification (a two day powerboat course)

Hi kenbrenda2, Yes - those are certainly the reasons. I have ICC for power and sail, so satisfies the need for a "licence". Just need to find where to hire a larger boat from :-) Any ideas? xx

stevenval, . speak to Vassilis at Skiathos boats which is the main boatyard near the end of the runway. He maintains and stores my boat and is a great guy. He has some reasonably sized ribs with larger engines (60hp) for hire and I think he still has his Cranchi 27ft bow rider either skippered or bareboat with Level 2. If you want to contact him and arrange things before you travel just Google 'Skiathos Boats' and go through his contact page. Alternatively, he owns Vromolimnos water
sports on the Vrom beach. Feel free to mention my name and if you want I will forewarn him when I see him in two weeks time.

Got reply from Vasillis. The gist is -
He offers "a boat 5,50 meters in length with 60hp motor (4 stroke with power trim + tilt) or one 4,90 meters in length with 60hp motor (2 stroke with power trim + tilt). The cost per day is 135 euro, petrol on top. Insurance is included. Vromolimnos beach water sports Tel 2427021299 Skiathos marine services Tel 2427024251"
Sounds fine to me, I'm checking with the others in the group, but at least now we know where to go.
Thanks to everyone - especially kenbrenda2 - appreciated.
Stevenal x
