Well...Skiathos 04 has already been taken, so I thought I'd take inspiration from Amy 114's thread and name this one after a Jimmy Webb song.
He's a prolific songwriter, so I don't think I'll run out of thread titles even if I go to Skiathos every year for the rest of my life.
We fly from Manchester on Wednesday morning at 6:00. Taxi booked for the middle of the night. I'm getting quite nervous, not about flying, but about being in Lancashire for several hours.
SWMBO has devised the best preparation possible for last minute packing/organisation before going away; she's spending a long weekend on a camp and not getting back until a few hours before we go. To be fair, she has done most of the packing, and left me with an impossibly long list of things to do.
To which I've added 'Print Boomerangers Advice'. I've asked a fair few questions over the last few months, and if I don't write it down I'll forget it So I've created a word document which I'll print out and put with the travel documents.
Everything's looking good. No email from Thomas Cook to say the hotel came down in the earthquake, or that it's inaccessible after the road was washed away in the floods, so unless Greece default on another IMF payment we should be kosher, halal, good to go, etc.
I'll try to access these forums from my phone, but otherwise I'll post at the Skiathos Old Boomerangers Facebook page.
I knows it's seldom used, but it may be the only way to share what's going on now that Photobucket have decided to hold the world to ransom.
See you all soon.
Meanwhile, a glorious version of the title song.

Oh YM, I'm flattered that my choice of title has inspired yours but I do think that you have missed out on the best song title for your holiday - Mamia Mia (here I go again) .....
Have a fab time and do post here as I am not on Facebook :-(

Engrave this piece of advice on your eyeballs.......
Do a wee on the plane before you land in Skiathos.
PS Are you REALLY going from Yorkshire to Manchester by taxi???

My feedback for September will be entitled either "On Ilkley Moor bah't 'at" or "There's a Worm at the bottom of the Garden, and his name is Wiggley Woo, tiddley om pom". That's on the assumption that 'bad leg day' is resolved before then.

I hadn't realised you couldn't fly to Skiathos from Leeds-Bradford until I just checked, very remiss of them. I guess there is the option of doing a 2 flight trip via Athens and some do it that way but it looks a real drag to me especially if it is only a 1 week holiday. I actually checked out the numbers last year and not only would it have meant me having to fly from another airport (no flights to Athens from EMA) but for when i was travelling it was actually more expensive doing 2 flights with Agean than 1 direct with TC irrespective of the other travel costs incurred by going from somewhere like Birmingham. Have good trip YM and post a few messages here if you can, however brief. I know how tough it can be finding the time. Bon voyage.

The taxi isn't much different to the parking charges, and is an awful lot less hassle, especially when travelling in the middle of night.
Will do my best to keep up to date.
Instead of taking pics I might take 1 second long videos and post them for free on YouTube - it's a mad world.

Well, the flight took off on time and he's now cruising past Frankfurt at 35,000ft and over 500mph. It is permissible to feel a sort of envy. I hope they remember to do wees on the plane.

If he was on the 6am flight with TC then landed on time, probably going through security right now. Nice sort of time to arrive but a bit early at the other end for me. I used to like the 9am flight from EMA, could leave the house at 6:15 for a 7am check in, didnt seem like the middle of the night. Now there is only the noon flight, easy enough getting to airport but it feels a bit tight for time getting to Skiathos at 6pm in the evening for getting to the accommodation and out for a meal.

Hope the steepness of the driveway up to the Palace wasn't too much of a shock!

Isn't that a posh place where they have their own minibus?
i reckon he's got there early enough to go out to the superyacht Al Mirqab for a spot of lunch.

Yes I think they do have a mini bus but maybe only runs at certain times, don't think they are around all day 'on standby' as it were. I've walked past the bottom of the drive as it comes out on the main road whilst doing a bit of hiking in the area but couldnt summon up the energy to tackle it to have a nose round the hotel. The daughter of a friend of mum's went to the palace last year but I didn't hear any reports back. I'm sure YM will be fine though. Plenty of TA photos, the view over Kouk harbour/beach looks impressive.

When we were delivered to Troulos 4 weeks ago, at one hotel place the rep got off the coach with deliverees and picked up an intercom to summon the nice strong man and chauffeur. Not the Palace, but you'd think a palace would have them.
Anyway, by now he'll have managed the climb if there isn't a nice strong man and chauffeur and he will have drunk many Mythoses by now whilst Mrs Mouth is unpacking.

There was a misunderstanding between me and the minibus guide in 2015. When he asked if I'd 'been before' I assumed he meant the island in general but he meant the actual apartments. So as I said yes they just stopped in Troulos, we got off and he said 'just follow this man' and off they went to various other drop off destinations. Luckily I'd done a bit of homework and guessed the right lane to go down.

Great first afternoon at Kouk beach c.3-6:30.
Sweltering.
Have discovered shortcut from Kouk beach to Kouk 'town', will explain later.
Great start.
