How's the swimming/leg interface going? As I said in my last post, I’m giving it up now - just missing the last day - because I’ve had to revert to less waterproof dressings.

Those two weeks seem to have flown by Dennis, enjoy the remaioning time. My mother (currently without internet connection) keeps asking me to read TA reviews down the phone to her of places in Skiathos town (or close to it) she's digging up in traverl agent brochures. Looks like she might be serious about going again on her own next year...

if your mum wants to stay in town, i recommend oasis studios. A really friendly place everyone talks to each other, plenty of comfortable sunbeds etc. if she doesnt want to go out everynight to eat, you can get good food there. The bus stop to beaches not far. Mike the owner will be able to advise her on anything she needs to know, he constantly makes sure everyone is happy. Short stroll to town or cheap taxi ride.

As I said in my last post, I’m giving it up now - just missing the last day - because I’ve had to revert to less waterproof dressings. Aye, but have the waterproof dressings worked fully? Is your wound still in the same state? . My wound is still open, so it must be protected and whilst sea is often good for injuries, I've been warned against getting it into my open wound. I have now had various adhesive dressings stuck to my leg for ages (since 13th July, is that nine or ten weeks?) and it's a nuisance to say the least. I've changed type of dressing several times and they have all stripped the hair off my leg with gusto (their gusto, my Ouch!). But some of them also seem to have an adhesive which reacts unpleasantly. Some have a decent border of sticky to make waterproof work well, others have a narrower border which makes me worry they might not be completely waterproof - I don't have the bottle to try and discover which of us is right - if my worries are realised, it could do untold harm and I've already had more than enough of this! Self employed (because my retirement pension doesn't maintain the style of living appropriate to my standing in the community [pub]) when we get back home tomorrow, I shall not have worked for 12 weeks. If that had been holiday, fine, but not earning is a pain!

It appears you have had a fabulous holiday, with the added bonus of being able ,to some extent, enjoy your daily swim, an activity that was very much in doubt right up to your arrival. The weather seems to have been more than kind to you and Vera, I believe you like warm. As they say the sun always shines on the righteous 😎 I have very much enjoyed your updates, bit disappointing about lack of information about post accident . I wonder if a British tourist, let's say driver no a scooter whilst drunk, had hit and injured a local person, slightly more than a drink driving charge i imagine. Hope you have a good, punctual flight home

Thursday 21st September. This is/was our last full day (unless we get a nightmare tomorrow!). It was a one person swim this morning and the sea was quite choppy so Vera had a bit of a with it. I lifeguarded and took a short video of her to prove she did it - it’s not as impressive as the real thing, so I guess it’s not worth posting. On the bus into town, we had the lady conductor bloke, who greeted me well, but in a rather subdued manner. It quickly became obvious why - the driver, her husband, was having a bad morning, cursing virtually everything in sight and out of sight too! So all we could do was exchange sotto voce sympathies and gently wish her well until we see her again next July. Today’s business was to collect a gift being made specially to my order via the olive shop on Papadiamantis Street, together with a key ring needed by Vera. Plateia sandwich shop made a pleasant call for a great snack, then off to the Bourtzi for a last look round (with beer). Wandering back, we out of the blue decided to go back via the fast boat to Koukounaries, providing it was due to leave. And so it was. We departed almost immediately with a passenger compliment of only five and hurtled off in top gear. Not QUITE so fast as normal due to waves, but you wouldn’t have noticed. That boat could do with serious suspension! I realised that the people at the back were not getting soaked, so I asked the captain how many boats they have and it’s three. We were in one which is designed not to wet back seat passengers. We caught the proper bus back from Koukounaries to Troulos and to our delight it was the lady conductor bloke again, this time without her husband as driver, so she was much cheerier. For our final meal out, it was Salt and Pepper, kalamari for Vera and ribs for me, one large beer. €31.50. And so to bed. Despite my restrictions on swimming, we’ve had another lovely holiday in Skiathos, accommodation top notch, food top notch, people top notch. What more can anyone ask for. All that remains is to reset my signature to get the next booking into my ticker factory and we can start a serious countdown for next year. G’night.

I searched and got quite a few of you - one probably posh one with a black posh hat, another looking like Weed out of Bill & Ben, flowerpot men.

Great trip reports Dennis. Hoping your leg wound improves & heals soon. Can't quite believe the update of legal action against the motorcyclist! Anyway, looks like you & Vera once again had a wonderful stay. Looking forward to July 2018
