Day 13 Started the day by the pool before heading down to Kanapitsa for ‘breakfast’. We used to eat there often in previous years when we stayed at both the Plaza & Kanapitsa Mare. It has increased in size a lot & looks more swish now but the views are still as breathtaking. Sat for ages just taking in the view. Near perfect weather today, gentle breeze. We left there & decided for Ag Eleni beach, with the dwindling days we feel the need to sunbathe & swim in the sea. Nothing focuses the mind to not waste a minute when Friday departure is looming 😩. Swam and snoozed, and pretty much did nothing else all day. Returned home and got ready for out, ate in My Stop gyros place in Ag Paraskevi, then onto the Iguana bar for the quiz, which was packed - many more people than last week. For the first time we actually entered & whilst we didn’t win, we didn’t get the loo roll plus sparkler either. Good night & got chatting to a few people we met last week too. Went up the lane to Dimitri’s bar afterwards for one for the road, back to Skiathos Diamond late again!

Day 14 Last day today, always tinged with a little bit of sadness but we always manage to squeeze our favourite things in. Scooted into town for croissants & yoghurt and fruit at Cosi cafe on the new harbour. Once in town we decided to go to Xanemos, it was very peaceful and very quiet as it was pretty breezy there. Just had a drink in the taverna there with uninterrupted views of the sea - blissful 😄. Came back to the apartment and got ready for our last night plus did our packing, aka throw everything in the case (took 10 mins tops). We were due to drop the quad off at 6ish or they would collect it from the apartments but we arranged we’d drop it off a bit later on way out & there was no problem with this. We dropped it off about 7.45pm and strolled on into town to get a few bits & pieces for our nearest & dearest back home (generally just little people who like to get something, no matter how useless it might be!). We were hungry at this point so food always comes first - we fancied somewhere with a view but were also thinking back streets. In the end we went up the steps and stopped at Lola, we’d never been before. We ordered too much and weren’t able to fit it all in but it was really lovely, one of the best this holiday. Now, too full to move properly, never mind ‘do the shops’, we bought a few things in the first place we went into and hey presto, shopping done! Sat down for one at Main Str bar and watched the world go by for half an hour or so - definitely quieter tonight & a little cooler but it is quite welcoming. Still says 26C on the sign outside the pharmacy though. Got our final Skiathos bus of 2018 back and called in Xanthi for one, hardly able to drink it as still so full. Now back at apartment and bedtime as no lying in until 10 tomorrow morning 😄 - think this is our earliest night in the entire fortnight - 1245am! Night all!

Final Day So I’m at the airport amongst the usual mayhem but a flight earlier in the day means that it’s not as chaotic as later in the day. I’ve completed my daily blog - so glad that I did, and chuffed with myself that I kept it up! I see that you’re arriving dennisn as I leave, and are probably in the air at the moment, so I’m handing the baton over to you..... Have a fabulous holiday, and I look forward to your reports. Also kate arrives next week, so hopefully between the 2 of you, we can look forward to more 2018 holiday feedback.

Hi bvrc, I have just reread your diary to get me in the mood for my return to the island next Friday, so looking forward to it especially as it is currently cold and wet at home! Your comment on the rude waiter on day 4 of your holiday set the years tumbling back to a time in my youth when I decided to throw in my 9 - 5 job and take a seasonal job in Cornwall as a waitress at a small hotel with a very large restaurant. There was a young waiter there who was rude and short with the customers, one of those who took himself and his waiting career very seriously, and looked down his nose at us seasonal waiting staff. Funny thing was, no matter how he treated the diners, come the end of every shift, he always made more tips than the rest of us!

It’s lovely there at the moment and still very warm in the evenings. Wrt the rude waiter, the other little guy was being over apologetic to everyone on behalf of the rude one so I hope the nice one got more tips that night 😄. It didn’t spoil the meal though, it was quite nice in there. Have a fabulous holiday, countdown really on for you!

Well bvrc, I really can’t believe how you have kept us without your reports in the past. I have enjoyed this so much. Just promise us that you will never again visit Skiathos and not put reports on this forum.
Thank you for your efforts and such valuable reports, so much better than the inanities on Facebook!

Thank you dennisn and I will try & report in future as well. My other half mentioned we might pay a visit in February (my birthday month), so let’s see - it would only be for a few days but we’re curious to see what it’s like then. My other half is a facebooker (& I occasionally have a nose at things on there) but he’s hooked up to 3 or 4 Skiathos related groups & he was just saying today that he was going to hide or unfriend himself from some of them as notifications were coming thick and fast, and not all of them kind...

Your OH is right, bvrc (Dennis too!) - the FB groups have got silly lately & are sometimes quite offensive. I do a lot of scrolling on by & avoid getting involved in the silliness. This forum is a breath of fresh air - everyone is lovely & I always feel better for reading the posts. I too have enjoyed your holiday experiences with you & look forwards to next time! Hopefully February

Thank you katet, if I go in February, I’m sure it will be a very different experience but rewarding just the same 😄
