Thanks for replying, that's very much appreciated.
The question I still have is:
Cheers.
So the more premium stuff, not included in the AI deal, do you just pay a supplement for that, or the full price?
I know some people who have been on AI holidays where, if you want an upgraded drink, you pay full price for it, whilst others you pay a supplement.
Just wondered which it was here.

There was no option to pay for an upgrade when we were at the Akti Beach Club and TBH I wouldn't of wasted my money. The drink and food was perfectly good; I think if you go to the Caribbean or Dominican Republic an upgrade should be considered.

Right gang, I hope no one minds me posting here, with this not being Skiathos. Just thought I'd keep you posted.
We've ended up booked into this place, ten days over Easter. It's costing c.£4.5k (two adults + 2 kids) AI, but we're not paying (long story, don't ask).
Here's the Skiathos link. I've long looked at the Golden King luxury villas on Skiathos. They appear to be very impressive, good position.
They don't open for Easter - too early. But I've checked the price for Spring Bank (10 days, though we wouldn't be able to do that) and it'd be £2.9k for the villa and £1.2k for the flights (though that's 4 adults), so £4.1k.
Comparing to the AI deal, leaves £400 for food & drink, which wouldn't cover it, but would certainly make a big hole in it.
And I know which I'd much rather do!
If we could persuade a couple of mates to come with us - there are 3 bedrooms - it'd be even cheaper!
Anyway, when we go I'll post something here. I won't give a daily report like when I go to Skiathos, just a quick once-over, that's if no one minds.

Worth hiring a car if budget allows, it's a big island and you don't get a feel of the scale of it unless you do a few day trips. My first Crete trip was based near Hersonissos, reasonably central. Got to the east coast one day and as far west as Rethymnon on another. Another part day out was down to the ruins at Knossos, if you hire a car you can get there early before the excursion coaches turn up, though it will be relatively quiet in April anyway I would expect. My second Crete trip was based just west of Chania so I covered a lot of the west side that I never got to when I was more centrally based and also got in a trip down to the south coast but it's a lot of driving over some rugged mountain ranges, exhausting as a solo driver (including a few hours gorge walking during the day). I wouldnt have tried driving to south coast from a more central start as the island is 'deeper' north to south there than at the western end.

If you are into history/mythology Crete is a great place to visit, , we stayed in gouve many years ago, just happened to coincide when our eldest was doing, thesis and the iMinator , excuse spelling, in school, we visited the ruins of the temple, fabulous day out.. it is an enormous island in comparison to Skiathos, however if you stay in one of the smaller, less commercialised resorts, you can still get traditional Greek feel

I once went to Crete in February. It happened to be so hot we sat on the harbourside with our feet dangling in the water.
Before Global Warming came along.

Have a good time YM, if you get chance go visit the Reptile rescue centre on the outskirts of Hersonissos, it will be on 'your side' of Hersonissos so you won't need to drive through it to get there.

Enjoying the break.
I’ll post more on my return, but for now I’ll just point out one VERY large negative.
During the day yesterday I was bitten no fewer than 18 times in my legs. I won’t go into details, as you might be eating, but it’s most unpleasant.
No one else has had anything. Just my luck.
