It’s been pretty quiet on the forum for past few weeks, I am of the mindset that this particular forum attracts the more discerning visitors, i am sure the majority of us who are fortunate eneough to be able to return this year have personal countdown in order. the beauty of this forum is that we actually read personal experiences, not who’s bum is on someone else’s seat,
i personally enjoy reading fellow forum members diary/blog whatever you care to call it. It is accepted we are not all as articulate as each other, doesn’t matter one iota, the message sent all reads the same, where would we be without dennises skiterining fishes, or Amy’s beautiful day to day accounts.
not long now folks, please as many as possible contribute with your experiences. It will be much appreciated by forum members and guests alike, just to say the numbers of guests who visit this site must read people actual personal experiences, and hopefully benefit from them with regard to their holiday planning,

Well Dave, at last we have the proof - you don’t need hair to be intelligent and sensitive! And Cariad, being Welsh (or having a Welsh username) puts you in the same class.
As for research - we looked at brochure details for ages and read the previous Boomerang website thoroughly before choosing Villa Maria and constantly congratulate ourselves on having hit on the perfect location. The only important thing we didn’t notice was the enormous benefit of a level position, so time proved to us that feature’s advantage - I often marvel at our good fortune from not having heart threatening struggles up and down (this is not a criticism of other locations, just an admission that my age imposes agility restrictions!).
Silence? Hmm, I often wonder if my rambling reports need a serious application of editor’s blue pencil. But not only can I not control myself, but I think maybe a newer member hasn’t read this stuff before. Maybe it’s time I switched to asking how many mozzies and wasps there are on 12th of July and whether there are more or less of them on 4th September and which date is best for avoiding flight disruptions due to mozzies and wasps. 😁

I fully agree with comments. I love rereading people's reports through the winter, especially as I'm currently 4 weeks in to a boring job on a construction site in darkest cold Germany ☹️. It helps get me through.

Yes, re-reading the reports gives me a warm glow, too. It brings Skiathos just that little bit closer. The variety of writing styles is brilliant - some brief and to the point, some not (me included!). I've enjoyed visiting the island much more since I 'discovered' this forum, and also TA to some extent. We've tried different restaurants and beaches and it's also fun to share our experiences. Facebook posters don't share the same amount of info .... though I love the photos and do enjoy posting mine, too.

I've re-joined Facebook and become a member of 2 Skiathos inspired groups. I agree the silly questions do get rather repetitive but I do like to see peoples photographs. So for me personally I use this site for useful information/hints and tips and FB if I need a photo-fix.

If you think the questions are repetitive on FB, try spending time on the Tripadvisor forums ;-)

Yes it is quiet at moment but must forums are the same at this time of year, on the subject of booking your holiday for me the research before is the best part in fact I maybe over the top, on our first trip after some research we visited various apartments then made our booking and payed our deposit , and I must say this forum is the best , well not long and the reports will start coming in, cheers all

Cariad, I can see that you have visited the Island five times and stayed at various locations. Please could you say which is your 1, 2, 3 of these. I have previously stayed at Villa Apollon. Achladies [NO !! ] and also Hotel Ifigenia near to the Bus Terminus in Town. This is in an excellent position and possibly, if I had to, I would stay again -BUT I am a fan of Megali Ammos and no intention of shifting to pastures new. I don't contribute much on here because I do a lot of gabbing on Skiathos Forum - Trip Advisor, however, I do like to read what is on this Forum very much so. Yes, I am in agreement about the repetitive questions on T/A but it is generally not difficult to answer queries from possibly, newcomers - the exception being, what is the weather going to be like on Thursday 28th bla de bla.

PS Oh dear, not happy about the illustration below my name - how can I delete this please? ? I do not regard myself as a New Member, but maybe a couple of years means that is the case. Not certain when I joined.

Hi Marg, it might be that the site has had some maintenance since the last time you visited and has reset your account perhaps? It shouldn't though. If you want to change the picture under your name you can add a picture of your choice. Go to 'profile' at the top then when you have an option to 'edit profile' (button on right hand hand side once you are in your profile section) and in that section will be an option to change your avatar, which is the little picture under your name. The site is currently giving you a default picture until you upload one of your choice.

Hello Marg. if you click on your name you can see AND amend your profile. The picture is, I believe the default place holder for your avatar. If you don’t choose one, that’s what you get. I’ve chosen my own to attract many damsels and wenches.
You registered on this site on 16th June 2013, so you’ve been a member pretty much as long as I have (and I think that’s just about as long as the site has existed - 29th May 2013). Sadly, the definition NEW is created by the site which apparently makes it purely from your post count - it defined me as a Skiathos Expert when I reached the requisite number of posts, taking no consideration of the fact that I’m a blabbermouth who had hardly seen anything of the island.
So you can get yourself a sensible avatar as soon as you wish. I don’t have any Admin permissions, so there’s nothing I can do about your newness, sorry!

Hi Marg, well stayed at some more than once. But the only two places i would return to now are Angeliki and Oasis. When we stayed at oasis most days we arrived at swell bar late morning used beds in the garden , had lunch and stayed all afternoon. I love the milkshakes there and wine with frozen grapes. Its a pleasant stroll into town in the evening too, without the hassle of buses. Achiladies was my first trip over 20 years ago, i loved the boat trip to town, but would never stay in a hotel half board now, too many lovely tavernas. I think the view from upstairs at angeliki and aphrodite next door are to die for, especially early morning when the sea is flat calm, and the beach is very good that end , and the sea dips very gradually, i love sea swimming, but husband hates sand. The two nicos at both places are both perfect hosts. I'm very much looking forward to your may diaries , im there with you when i read it i can feel the sun, and hear the breeze rustling the leaves on the trees in swell bar
