I thought the feedback forum was the best place to ask this.
There have been a few comments on Facebook saying the island, town and Troulos, and all quieter than usual for this time of year.
Comments?

Katerina, the bus conductor lady, says numbers are down. That was after she greeted me with a hug and kiss and packed me into a small space like her prey for the day. We’ve had two almost empty buses and the rest were total complete absolute solid jam packed - more than we’ve ever seen before.

I would say town is definitely quieter this year. Normally Pap St is thronged in the evenings but not so the last few nights. Not booked anywhere but so far not been turned down for a table anywhere

There are a few posts on Facebook pointing out some really cheap deals ATM. I know the schools have barely finished and it's not absolute peak season yet but it does suggest sales are down. Some of the deals have been the sort of prices you'd associate with May rather than July.

We went last month which to be fair is slightly earlier than we normally go but we definitely thought it was quieter. We are going to make up for it in August when we are going to party all night 😁

Yes - apparently it's on average 25% down on last year, according to Dina at the Hotel Panorama (this info was from the tourist office). She said they are really lucky and are almost fully booked all season - they have an 88% rate of return bookings. Bad news for some establishments!

So, it appears to be true.
The next question is why.

Could be. But aren’t prices set by supply and demand?

After all the compensation the operators had to fork out last year I suppose they have to recoup the money some how! Bob

Could it be weak exchange rate, stupid fight prices, and I hate to say the B word, It would be interesting to look at figures per country , just to see if it’s actually visitors from the uk , or those from elsewhere, including mainland Greece that are down. One thing for sure, we’re back next year
