I don't want to kick off a political debate here but (Word Deleted) hell. I was lucky in that I had the capacity to buy some large amounts pre brexit referendum that has pretty much seen me through to this year. I did it in 2 goes in fact. If I recall correctly I bought a lot at 1.42 and then it slumped a bit but then very briefly recovered to 1.38 and I gambled on another bulk buy. So it's been a few years since I've had to do some calculations. To see me through the 2 weeks I'm going away for later this month, the difference in rates now compared with the worst of those rates I originally got will mean I'll be losing out the equivalent of what I'm paying for a whole week's accommodation plus a few meals. It makes you think.

It makes ME think “what the heck is Kev paying for a week’s accommodation?”
I’m guessing you’re not even getting 1.09 now.

By the way, I should koko. We’ll be going for Euros ourselves inside the next couple of weeks in preparation for September.

Wife just exchanged for euros, a grand rate of 1:048 , off to Seville tomorrow to visit our son and his family, . Certainly will make a difference to families travelling on a budget, can’t see it improving any time soon.

It explains why the island is quieter this summer. Brexit has started to affect our Greek friends already. 😢
Kev, Paul also had the foresight to buy at 1.4 and it lasted us until last September. It makes us cringe now to get such awful rates.

Whatever you do, don’t buy your euros at the airport, 0:93 at Manchester yesterday, and still people getting them, much better using first atm machine on arrival

Buying at the airport? Words fail me!
when I got my crisps yesterday, Tesco were selling at 1.03. We’ll hang on a week or two, but not with much optimism. The only thing that could save us would be Buffoon resignation and Article 50 revoked!

I figured I'd need an additional 1200 Euros on top of what I have left to get me through the 2 weeks. Exchange rate was close to 1.07 so that is about £1121. At my last exchange rate of 1.38 that 1200 euro would cost me around £870 so the difference of £251 would cover my weeks accommodation of £217 plus a couple of cheap meals.

Just exploiting those travelling at short notice or can't organise themselves. Should be wearing Dick Turpin masks at the counter. It's not busy but a steady flow of victims, er ,customers.

I’m holding off on the grounds it couldn’t get any worse at the moment.
In the (very slightly) longer term, it’s possible things might get worse in the last few weeks, or even days as the Halloween deadline approaches, if nothing gets sorted. But I think the current rate will be as bad as it gets, bar a few cents/pence, until then.
So, going in late September, I don’t think I’m going to lose out by waiting, and might gain if things are sorted (unlikely), or look like making progress (not completely impossible).
