I deliberately stood out in full sun to the right of the fish van in that open cobbled area but it would have all happened whilst you were in with doctor. The blue case man may be me going over the road to join the throng. Can't jump a queue that doesn't queue, it's like water being poured back into a bottle by invisible funnel. I took some videos of loading in at Alonnisos. When I get back I will load onto Vimeo and post links. I'm intending going back over this thread and loading photos in at appropriate points once I'm back in UK and have time. Anyone who's joined Facebook group Single Skiathos Boomerangers or whatever it's called will have seen my snaps as I've gone along anyway. Posts from here may be more sporadic, you've all been here anyway and my time won't be quite my own from now. People to see, not least of whom is mum flying in from Manchester as I type.
EDIT : By the way, if anyone wonders if its more civilised loading the ferry at Alonnisos here's what it was like when I did the Skopelos-Alonissos-Skiathos run on the Friday :

Well, as the saying goes, the plans of mice and men blah, blah. But I for one will say I was glad to have the opportunity, even though the doctor so rudely interrupted. Serves me right for getting there early, I have this thing about being early and never being late - sad, innit?
When we go in a couple of weeks, I'll try to wear something outstandingly visible, that camera doesn't zoom and you need pretty good eyesight to see enough detail. Anyway, I'll take a selfie too.

Is mum on TC or TUI? - TUI delayed an hour and will arrive after TC.

She was on TC so the only delay was the taking time to drop people off in town. Driver seems to have forgotten there was a drop off at Taxiarchis and mum had to put him straight. She's fine, I went up there and was waiting Mythos in hand to say hello. Because I'd already been sunning myself for a week and turned up very casual and with no luggage the other arrivals thought I was a Greek taxi driver😄 as if a local taxi man would be sitting round having a beer on a Friday of all days😂

We are at Mesogia (next to Gravis Pizza). Courgette fritters with tzatziki to share then mum had lamb and I had stifado. They do 250ml juglets there so mum had white I had red and there was bread too. 45 euro Inc tip. A few provisions after showing mum home, quick nightcap in Kentavros and I'm done. 9:30 start on Diamanti sailing boat tomorrow. Morfo Hotel guard cat. One falso move and he'll have your hand off. Kentavros. One of the smokiest bars left on the island when it's busy.

The sailing day went very well with Cap Babis on the Diamanti. One of the expected party couldn't make it she had hurt her ankle a couple of nights before but someone else came instead so we had 10 I think in total. Great atmosphere and it was the organisers birthday so a bit special. Food, wine and water provided and swimming stops at Arkos, Skopelos and Tsougria. No dolphins sadly but did see a pair of eleanoras falcons. Cocktail at Ginfish then some of us reconvened at Little India (not my idea but went with the flow) after a shower and change of clothes. Food OK but underwhelming, I don't think I actually got what was listed as a Rogan Josh that I picked, chalk it down to experience probably won't go back. Not even sure how much mine was we all chipped in for a communal bill. Wanted to see Nassos play at Phedrock so split from others that went Blind Dog. Gone midnight before I could say hi and pass on t shirt, he seemed very pleased. Gaveme a copy of his latest CD in return. At this point I should have gone back to hotel but after 2 ouzos in Phed I then went back to Blind Dog and had one there as there was still 1 boat party member still there and then big mistake of deciding on nightcap at Kentavros. Must have been after 3am when I left, didn't wake up until 10:30. Daft at my age feels like I've wasted half a day. This will be a beach or pool day I think. Some of the boat party are dining at Thessaloniki taverna at Meg Ammos tonight so I'm going to take mum. She briefly nipped down to Ginfish to say hello but not seen her since must check what she's up to. A couple of snaps from the birthday sailing day, birthday girl Helen Measures from SSB facebook group filling in for cap Babis on way back Some of the boat crowd plus others at Thessaloniki taverna on the Sat night (not my photo, reproduced from facebook)

Mum came down to the hotel so we walked on the harbour, cut up the side of the Alkyon and hey presto I've introduced her to the tennis club. Salads washed down with frappes and a bottle of water for lunch and now a bit of poolside leisure for rest of afternoon. Kalo mina.

Cheers for the feedback folks. Met up this evening with some of the boating group from yesterday. Had a meal at Thesaloniki taverna at Megali Ammos. Neither me nor mum had starters so just 2 mains (mum had summer seasons pasta, I settled for Kleftiko). and we had a litre of house red, about 20 euro each Inc tip. A few of us walked back town (including mum) for a couple in Blind Dog before going separate ways to hotels.

Trying to keep up with other forum members posts to see if at any point we are likely to be in town same time one evening but I suspect we will be ships passing in the night. Everyone has their own agenda and that's fine. Quietish day for me. Got up earlier than usual, had breakfast and walked to the bus terminus, got off at stop 13 at 9am and walked anticlockwise round the Kanapitsa headland. No routemarch. Stopped to try a bit of birdwatching with my new binocs. Had rest stops at 2 benches and was still at bus stop 12 by 11.10am. Bus back to stop 5 was Dennis's lady conductor but the journey wasn't long enough to allow me to exain that I 'know' D&V so didn't attempt it. Met mum at Swells for lunch but then for first time ever there was no room at the inn either sunbeds out front or in the gardens. All spoken for. We toddled off up the far end and got beds at El Paraiso instead. Had a small beer each and some of the Saturday boat trip crowd are booked into Marmita tonight, me and mum included. It's another I've never eaten at so will ticked off 2 new eating places so far. My original plan of all new ones was scuppered early doors with the Thesaloniki meal last night but hey ho. I don't think it's as humid this year as same time last year, wore a long sleeved shirt last night! The famous bench at the end of Kanapitsa headland

Postscript about my morning walk. When I got to bs 12 I needed to txt mum so we could co ordinate to get to Swells at same time. Then the bus turned up sharpish and leapt on. Got off at bs 4 to realise I'd left my old battered trusty baseball cap on the bench at bs 12. I was going to retire it after this trip anyway, falling apart in places. Had it about 15 years. This gives me an excuse to have a saunter down pap st on way home and see if there's a Skiathos emblazoned one that's not too tacky to become my new fave cap.

Mum came down to the hotel so we walked on the harbour, Careful Kev. The last person to walk on water ended up being crucified! 😉 Bob.

Kev (and anybody else) it would be interesting if you tried saying to the nice lady bus conductor bloke that Dennis and Vera are coming again on Friday, see whether our names click.
