I dunno about you, but I'm finding the webcam viewing quite unsatisfying these days, so little movement on it, by which I mean stuck and buffering etc. I'm sure it's down to too many viewers for it to cope with. I suspect some people just sit there with it on show for very long spells at a time then there was a post on Facebook once with a live link to it. When the time comes, I shall call on the computer man and suggest that each day he simply disconnects it for a few minutes to drop connections for those who plug in then walk away for coffee and suchlike.

The camera really is a problem these days, can never seem to beat the "too many viewers" failure to logon. I haven't been able to catch it for a few days now. No wonder somebody reported it as down on FaceBook one day (it wasn't, just too many people logged on to it).

I suspect it could be fixed with a little hardware update (server?) or internet expansion. But neither at the top of their agenda. Possibly the good people of Skiathos are using t'internet more in lockdown, and are thus limiting the island's overall bandwidth? Just guesses.

I suspect it could be fixed by a little switch - on/off. Turning it to Off for a few minutes every hour or two to disconnect everybody, thereby losing those who just keep it connected all day long. I don’t think there’s any update within the available Skiathos resources.

I don’t know if I’m just lucky, but I’ve never had a problem viewing web cam.
Seems strange looking at a virtually empty promenade in the old port, very few vehicles,if any, coming off the ferry.

There is a naval ship in port tonight. Still little footfall on the promenade

I’ve had a fleeting glimpse of the far end of something, not enough to identify it as a naval vessel. I do wish the camera gave us more time over the ferry docking area.

The naval vessel back in port by ferry terminus,
Proteus ferry in, seems busier than it has been, possibly provisions arriving ready for tourism to open up in some form

It looks busier at the harbour tonight, probably due to fact, rocknroll ,venue etc opening up tonight. Locals probably enjoying their first social gathering for 3 months, certainly hope they enjoy it.

It strikes me...
This would be a great time to have just retired, if you'd had the virus already.
All the time in the world.
Fly over to Thessaloniki. Hole up for a few days for quarantine.
Off to Skiathos.
Half empty. No problem getting a sun lounger or a table.
Sure, I'll quarantine when I get back to the UK. See you in October!

Dennis, my post was based on what I viewed via webcam yesterday evening.

My post was based on balddave's post.
By the way, I was looking at the webcam yesterday (or possibly the day before) and got on fine.
