I’m in Stamelos Bar and it’s so quiet it’s like a bad joke.

I’m in Souvlaki Under the Pine Tree.
Where the flip is everyone?
This is paradise, half empty.
The meal was gorgeous.

That was my main concern when you said you were going so late in the season and back to Kouk. The TC collapse will have made a sizeable dent in numbers there, this late in the season those that were due to come out will just give it up and start claiming a refund. You will probably find more life in town, get a bus down tomorrow night. If there arent many out on a Saturday in town you could be in for a quiet holiday. Fingers crossed enough places stay open for the full time you are there.

Totally agree Kev, end of season things a lot quieter, it’s different the start of the season when although still quiet locals enthusiastic for the months ahead, I can imagine the standard of service you received would not differ, but during season staff work 12/14 hour days, this must take a toll, I’m sure when you venture into town you will find a more vibrant atmosphere, Whatever enjoy your holiday, embrace the calm, and update on a regular basis

Son and daughter in law have said how quiet it is .... but they like it. I think they’ve been back in their room by 10 pm most nights. Martha’s had a really heavy cold all week & hasn’t been feeling well, unfortunately. Am sure town will be more lively!

Look I hate to disturb this celebration of “quiet”, but I have to question how YM will have a subdued sojourn. For heavens sake folks, he has a suitcase full of electronic devices loaded to the gills with bangy thumpy horror.

I didn’t explain myself very well.
I don’t mind it being quiet at all. No queues. No wait for a beer. It’s only adding to the peace.
I don't mind it, I just think it’s crazy.
More later, I’m in Agustera watching the rugby.

Even the bangy-thumpy stuff!

Half time, so a few initial thoughts.
I’m getting the two ‘f’s: familiarity and freedom.
It’s nice to discover somewhere new, but also fantastic to unpack, leave the room, and know exactly where you’re going. Particularly on a short break, it’s great to not waste a few days wandering around lost.
Now the freedom is odd. After unpacking I left the room and set off for the shops in Koukounaries. As I passed the bus stop I suddenly thought I could get on the bus. Go to town. Stop at Achladies and get the water taxi. I don’t have to worry about where the rest of the tribe is, or when I need to be back.
Wonderfully liberating.

More later, I’m in Agustera watching the rugby. Living the life of Riley! If you were back in Yorkshire, you'd be just about doing the washing up, instead of which, you're out there, watching rugby a stone's throw from the beach. #envy.

I don’t usually drink this early, even on holiday. But the combination of a great game of rugby and the setting & heat...

This is what I’m talking about.
I left Agustera and was walking back to the hotel, when I saw a bus coming towards me.
So I hopped on it, and set off for the town, via the far end of Koukounaries.
And I’m not getting off at 4, I’m going all the way to the terminus, which I’ve never done before.
Little things, and all that.
