Quick update - last night Big Bad Wolf said they were going to stay open at least one more night. I can’t eat there again, that’d be three nights running!
Rugby again today, but that’ll be the last one of the holiday. Possibly Maratha, then town tonight.

Great video YM. View looks similar to the upgraded room (we paid for 😅) circa 2014! Per TA comments earlier today; those on cancelled repatriation flights have been sent to the Palace. Have you noticed a influx? Know for a fact some have been accommodated at Panorama & Myrtia & also have friends sent to the Alkyon in town. Whatever, enjoy your stay. Can recommend a a lovely pool bar, Theodora, up by bus stop 15. Usually closing by now but staying open to accommodate cancelled TC flights. Have you any idea how long they’re here for?

I believe Theodora are remaining open until Friday, Obviously I can’t be certain. Just know they still have a few guests there

I’ve just been down to Maratha, and WOW!
Almost totally empty. I counted a dozen, including myself.
All of the Palace’s sun loungers are gone. The other sun loungers at the far end, I think there about half the usual number. There was no one collecting money at 11:00am.
The beach bar is closed up. I shall take down a few cold Mythos and a bag of oregano crisps.

YM, if you're still looking for a way to mark the end of the season, how about "doing a Dennis and Vera" and going across to Skopelos and waving at this camera? It is live and gives a lovely clear picture. I'm sure your family would be delighted to see you there. www.ionianislandholidays.com/skopelos-town-info-4.htmBob

Getting over there isn’t on my radar currently, but I’ll let you know.

Sounds like a plan, there are still loads of places in town I've never eaten at and that's one of 'em, though I managed to tick off 3 new ones this year (possibly 4, I couldnt remember if I'd eaten at Nicko's before).

You've probably already seen this on facebook but since you are at the Palace let's take a trip down memory lane to it in the early 70's

Aye, a revelation.
No White View. Far less green.

Gosh, that’s a great picture! So few trees along the roadside, which now shield the view of Koukanaries beach somewhat when driving along that bit of road in front of the Palace hotel. My first time in Skiathos I stayed in Koukanaries and was totally blown away as the transfer bus turned that corner and the view came into sight for the first time, it was very special. Nowadays I still take a photo from that viewpoint but have to stop and choose my spot carefully in between all the trees.

Could use someone sending a drone up to try to get the same angle and frame now to see the changes side by side. The modern photos of it seem to be always taken looking back at it from Kouk beach.

I think the road has changed since then ... seems to have more bends in nowadays
