Only one thing for it folks - homemade ones 😄
Homemade ready salted crisps are easy to make so I wonder if sprinkling with oregano before or after the cooking bit, works.....
Little project for us all, perfecting the recipe 😂
(Then share the recipe)!

I'll pass on that one bvrc after my disastrous attempt at making vegetable crisps in April, 😂😂 I am still in the process of trying to perfect home made oven chips! 😂

Believe it or not, one thing I seriously miss (now up to week 16 isolating) is doing our own food shopping.
Giving somebody else a list is most unsatisfactory. I mean, I have managed to get proper crisps (Walkers ready salted) but you (we) feel we can’t be too precise because getting the exact stuff we want seems too much like being too picky. Just ask for potatoes when we really want those red Rooster ones, chicken fillet when I want boneless chicken thighs, Melton Mowbray pork pie, I just can’t list it all, struggling. But you can’t spell it all out to get what you would buy if you went shopping yourself. I’m always torn between trying not to seem too picky and doing what I would ask if I was doing somebody’s shopping - asking for specific brands, sizes, types, so that I could do exactly what they want. So difficult.
when it all kicked off, we learned of a place which would deliver veggie boxes, £10, £15 and £20 value. They would deliver a box of fruit and veg. We couldn’t place an order for the contents, just the value and they filled the box as they saw fit. Quite simply, we cook what comes, we don’t think up a menu and go buy the ingredients.
Ho hum, I wonder how long we shall continue isolating.

PS If bvrc doesn’t post a recipe for home made ready salteds, will someone else please do so. Post full details so that I can follow them with more success than I have for dressing a duvet in its cover with a flick of the wrist.

Will do when I find it - I’m a dreadful cook but my OH is good and he definitely has made home made crisps once, trialling out a slicer gadget his folks found stashed away that belonged to his grandparents. Maybe I’ll persuade him to season with oregano and will report back whether they were a good substitute to the ones we scoff in Skiathos - no beach, smells of the Skiathos countryside, humming of creepy crawlies, etc (so they probably won’t).....
BTW, that duvet donning with a flick of the wrist is an urban myth 😄

There’s loads of articles and videos of that urban myth.

My other half has just said that a packet of Walkers ready salted crisps sprinkled with Oregano (good brand), shake bag a bit - good to go... Mmmmm, I think he’s trying to wriggle out of making some properly!

must be greek oregano though that insipid stuff in jars here is useless. i still have a big jar full . to make crisps you need a mandolin its a very sharp cutter over a box you adjust the settings to the finest slice slide the potatoe across, chefs do it at lightening speed. Then deep fry, i do them abit thicker to serve with pheasant they are then called game chips. I love cooking as you can probably tell. uvet covers invented to keep men occupied for hours !
