How about “my holiday, August 2020”.
Would that be cryptic enough?
Or really cryptic - “August” and post it in the forum for feedback, 2020?

It’d break the pattern, Dennis. And you know I’m a creature of habit.
Anyway, hold my horses. When I opened envelope, it did indeed contain Freya’s passport.
Her old one, returned.
Still, the new one should be here tomorrow.

So there is still hope that we may not be assaulted by thumpy bangy video this year.
Just in case , may I recommend Shostakovich’s “Assault on beautiful Gorky”?

I'm thinking of going on facebook and asking 'I'm planning on snorkeling - do I need to wear a mask?' and see how many people get it.

Kev that’s not right. You need to do one of those funny Asking for recommendations posts.
“Thinking of trying snorkelling in the ferry port. Any advice on where to dive in? Any idea how many octopi there are under the ferry wharf and does anybody have a recipe to cook them?”
thx

Cariad I haven’t got a dot thingy and I don’t like opera. Gilbert and Sullivan’s OK. Shostakovich. Chopin. Maybe something else which slips my mind just now. Oh, brass bands.

We’re booked to fly 11th September, but it’s now an uncertain period, gone from feeling positive to hopeful,
I just hope Greeks look at today’s uk government restrictions as a positive in controlling virus.
Having missed out on May visit we will be not to pleased to lose September, but appreciate it’s not devastating or life changing, so will accept and look forward to next year.
That is the worst scenario, hope to be boring you all with daily updates in a few weeks.

i couldnt stand the uncertainty, the main reason, it would have been better to say no travel this year, than no,yes , no, maybe, we could all see this coming especially working in Leicester. Its not down to people not understanding rules , but thinking i don,t want to do that. we have educated, perfect english speaking ethnics in my office living in the centre of the worst affected lockdown area. They are always talking of been to Leeds/ Bolton / manchester to see relatives, and having people to their house, also day trips to the coast and most dangerous of all constantly shopping at out of town shopping. It is impossible to police, and their view is if i have to go to work why should i stay in. While this attitude prevails we will never see the end of this pandemic. We have seen on tv crowds massing on beaches in pubs too many people think it doesnt apply to me or i dont care. At this rate i can see next years holiday in danger.. I feel very sorry for people who;s wedding has been cancelled at 24 hours notice, the goverment must give people more notice of changes its total chaos. Other countries dont seem to have this problem.

I think the government is seriously to blame. How many things have they got wrong? I lived my business life knowing that if things went wrong, it was the bosses’ fault.
Their advice, suggestions and rules have been woolly, unclear, imprecise and badly timed. Without proper leadership from the government, the public have wandered through this pandemic like sheep to the slaughter. Boris allowed his advisor-cum-controller and his father to break the rules without suffering any consequences, so obviously the public who wanted to do the same did so.
It looks to me more like an election campaign than a health campaign - which move gives the best votes?

Some of the photos posted recently on FB are worrying, some folk appear to have left their brain in the UK.
All social distancing seems to have gone out of the window, we’re not talking about unruly groups of youngsters but supposedly mature adults.
It is an insult to the locals who have made every effort to ensure Skiathos is as safe as possible for visitors, and themselves abide by covid guidelines

Other countries dont seem to have this problem. Regarding the uncertainty, it does take the patience of a saint. This current booking is our third, and there's still no guaranteeing it'll happen. I don't think the odd large gathering will have changed things too much. Even in a crowd of tens of thousands there'll only have been a half dozen, each giving it to maybe 3 others. If you look at the number of new cases per day, it'll barely have touched the sides. But yes, it's cumulative. Every little helps, and we need everyone to be on the ball. I'm hoping this last few days have been a wake-up call to everyone.
