Am guessing you don't need to know now that you're all staying at the Palace? Just in case:- The grounds are lovely, the bar seems lively and the onsite taverna has always been good. I've been told that the rooms are fairly basic but very clean.

You’re right, we’re now all at the Palace.
Thanks for the info, though.

The taverna is very good! I ate twice there last year as their stuffed peppers & tomatoes were amazing. It was busy both times, a good sign.

Whenever I see pictures, videos, maps, it always looks like all of the tavernas and bars in Koukounaries are between Big Bad Wolf and Under the Pine Tree, and once you get ‘round the corner’ it’s all accommodation.
Are there many places to eat and drink round there?

Are there many places to eat and drink round there? Muses Hotel, Golden Beach and Panorama all have restaurants and bars, as part of their accommodation as opposed to standalone venues. Been to the Muses taverna in the evening, the other 2 during the day for breakfast or lunch. The little pool bar at Muses can get quite lively of an evening 😄, and restaurant busy.

If you carry on towards the beach (& the awful desecration that is the Elivi) there are two cracking restaurants. You first come to Cookoonari Plus - set in a beautiful garden with lovely food and run by a very friendly family. This used to be George’s.... run by a very old couple in an overgrown garden, who sat and watched while you ate. Unsurprisingly, it wasn’t very busy- even though the food was good. (I think the ladies who run it now are relatives - but they are very professional.)
Next door to Cookoonari is AlaMar - a modern, lively restaurant which opened two years ago. The food is good - pizzas, pasta etc and it’s a great place to stop off after the beach. I love it 🥰

Unless I'm misremembering I think Strofilia is just the other side of Under the Pines as well, but nowhere near as far down as Muses. Laid back family run place with nice ambience out the front (unless it's a bad mozzie night). Only eaten there twice and it was a few years back but no complaints as I recall.

You’re right, Kev - I missed Strofilia out (not keen, personally) and also Muses, Panorama and Golden Beach. They all do food - the tavernas at Muses and Panorama are good.
