Well its well and truly kicked off in spain again, now airlines have the problem of getting people back who are there, while going out with empty planes. no doubt everyone ringing jet 2 ,Tui wondering why they cant get through. Did spain have any measures in place like the forms in Greece so everyone can be traced by accommodation address? Wouldnt surprise me if goverment didnt ban all travel again after this.i heard on the news yesterday 400,00 passport applications backlog. Staff furloughed because cant social distance. Well ive had to work the whole time and we cant distance in my office in the nhs, is it ok for s to risk our lives but not snowflake civil servants? Do people not know when passport runs out, mine does before next holiday and i,ll be applying at least 4 months before.

Spain has virtually same measure as Greece with regards to tracing visitors, We are in a quandary, booked to fly to Spain in a fortnight, we’ve not seen our son and his family since Christmas as the live in Seville, desperate to see 3 grandchildren. Now unsure as what to do, or if airline will again cancel flight. Just over 3 weeks after we’re due to return from Spain we have Skiathos booked.

well you dont want to risk being stuck in spain if they go into lockdown again, you must miss your family but you would lose skiathos holiday and have to quarantine. very uncertain times for everyone. i wouldnt want the risk of it all kicking off again, although i look at photos coming out of skiathos and yearn for my next fix

Grandson and his girlfriend have returned from Spain a couple of hours ago. He Worked from home so can do that again (and is in no danger of losing his job over it). But she can’t, runs a gym. I’ve suggested she should go back onto furlough, but I don’t know how the private gym will react.
Vera’s daughter (Nurse) tested positive for Covid19 fifteen weeks ago and still suffering, with no forecast of when she’ll be fit to go back to work. She is worried now that she may have problems for the rest of her life. It’s a shame she didn’t have the influencial treatment granted to Boris.
So we’re still glad we put off our two 2020 Skiathos trips to 2021. I wish safety to everybody who has gone though and will rejoice when they all return Covid free.
I think it’s time the government stepped in to help the airlines who are suffering from not just the U.K. virus status, but that of all the countries on their destinations lists. I’m afraid I am cynic enough to think the govt is letting them sink or swim, on the belief that if they sink, somebody else will come along to give the UK air connectivity again.

Whilst I somewhat agree that if a country has a spike in covid then uk should react accordingly, but if they actually look closer the increase is in Barcelona, Madrid, murcia area, Miles away from Malaga and even further from Seville where our son and his family live,. With a bit more investigation and organisation they could have limited quarantine rules to incoming flights from airports in the effected regions.

Would that work in the same way that Stanley Johnson was not allowed to fly direct to Greece? Or Dominic was not allowed to drive to Durham?

It’s possible this may help Greece.
Firstly, whilst some people will just give up, some will still want a holiday, and maybe look to Greece as a replacement for Spain.
Secondly, the government are quite rightly getting it in the neck about treating all of Spain the same. Isolating Greek islands and only stopping travel to those affected will look a more palatable option than a wholesale ban.
