I am looking to try some new tavernas in September and was wondering if anyone had been to the ones on my list if open of course
selini in the old town, kouberelias on the old port, o paraxenos just off papa d's and bakaliko towards the airport. just a few of which I aim to try,
what are other peoples favourites also as I may have a nosey at those too

We base ourselves in Troulos which has an abundance of lovely Tavernas but sadly only a few open at the moment... but further afield, some of our favourites are... Infinity Blue/Olive Thea/Lynhari/Dionyssos (sp) /Panorama pizza/Calma taverna...

Ratatouille is one of my first choices. If I didn’t have to go to all my other first choice favourites, I would love to go every night and just work my way through the menu.
Haven’t been to Nectar and Ambrosia - I’m put off by the walk along that main road and the steps to climb, just can’t be tempted enough!

dennis nectar ambrosia now have a stair lift so now you can sample its delights, as for a lift down the road just stick your thumb out or show a bit of leg.

Hi dave67, Paraxenos is my absolute favourite and most people rate it highly. Kabourelias is good - very traditional and popular with locals. I also love O’Batis and Limanaki.

In the matter of this thread. We pay little attention to these recommendations because we’re odd, I suppose. At our age we have developed an unwillingness to get it wrong. We pretty much went to Skiathos 7 years ago when Corfu went badly sour on us and Skiathos was based on semi secondhand information. It turned up trumps - our first week (of a fortnight) was perfect, accommodation, Greeks, location, all three satisfied all the adjectives necessary. So when we are asked why don’t we try somewhere else we just aren’t interested, we know where the holiday will be a success.
The same applies to tavernas. But we HAVE been a bit adventurous, with the result that we have tried four which don’t make it on our list. One was a shock when the bill came. Two where the food we chose wasn’t any good (other people actually rave about them so it was our fault). One inaccessible except by car. There is also a fifth which we avoid with a shudder on looks and smell.
So here are my top four evening meals. Ratatouille, Jasteri, Vareli and Sunrise, all walking distance for us in Troulos. In town, Nikos (yellow) for gyros and occasional evening meal when we get off the boat and up opposite Tries Hierarches church the little sandwich place. And the Bourtzi, obviously.

I forgot to add our jeep eating places - Ligharies first day, Platanos the second. We only hire the jeep for two days and have lunch there.

we like to try2-3 new places each time as weve never eaten in troulos this year will be more. we uesd to like one on the new harbour always good, but one year husband asked for lamb chops a rack of lamb appeared very good but 26 euros ! we used to love alexandros for the two men playing then one time after walking up with great anticipation terrible meal after very long wait. theres only lunch place for me swell bar on megali ammos, always fantastic food lovely view, listening to the swish of the leaves in the trees, carafe of wine glistening with condensation and frozen grapes. Nicos lovely owner and great staff, then doze on sunbeds in the garden and a dip in the sea without getting sand everywhere. Heaven on earth
