Unfortunately Salt & Pepper seriously dropped the ball last night.
It was ‘pretty full’ rather than ‘packed’. With socially distanced tables and plenty of staff on, they should have managed it easily. But we had a 90 minute wait for the food. No apology. No offer of a free desert. No complimentary liqueur. We had all three the night before in Ottimo, despite only a relatively short 40 minute wait.
The rose, whilst not listed as such on the wine list, was semi-sweet. When I pointed this out the manager said I was wrong.
We didn’t let it ruin the night. The food was good, and I ordered a glass of house red.

A quick word of apology for not having a final round up.
After returning late on Friday 4th we had a weekend to try and sort stuff out, and a return to work on Monday. As some of you may now, I’m a pastoral worker in a large secondary school, and a huge chunk of extra day-to-day work has just been added to my usual job.
I’m absolutely shattered. My steps over the last week (according to my phone) have been Sat 5k, Sun 3K, Mon 7k, Tue 10k. Then my year group returned. Wed 12k, Thu 15k, Fri 15k. I’ve never had two consecutive days over 15k before! For accuracy, I don’t have a smartwatch, that’s just from my phone, so the real number is likely to be higher.
Anyway, the bottom line is that I haven’t had much free time for a final update. And to compound that, I’m booked into a family get together in York tonight, so no rest for the wicked.
