I love swimming in the sea, but hate the uncomfortable sunbeds on most beaches, plus the fixed sun parasols, you dont get those in stoupa for example, you get a proper umbrella you can put up and down according to where the sun is. Best sunbeds ever was at theodora studios soft and squashy, so comfy. we go to megali ammos beach alot because we always eat at swell bar , he always invites us to use beds in the garden, you can pull under the trees when its really hot, and no sand but only a few steps to the sea for a refreshing dip. is the campsite still at kouk i remember coming across it the first visit to skiathos

The grassy area around the tennis club pool is quite good size but the actual pool itself isnt that big. Id guess not much more than half size of Caravos. Some of the places on Skopelos have decent size pools but the land was always cheaper over there.

What an awful shame that the Caravos has gone to wrack and ruin 😪 As you say, Kev, it wouldn't have taken much to get it up to requirements in 2012 - but would be too far gone now. I remember going to the loo in the hotel when we had a meal in the restaurant at the front. You had to go down some stairs behind reception and there were massive cracks in the walls. They looked structural, according to a builder friend who was in our party.
Regarding Ambelakia - I think that's me at the bottom of the steps in your photo! 🤣 (Only kidding - we didn't get too Skiathos in 2012, as we tried Turkey instead>) But although those steps were always a killer at the start of the holiday by the end of two weeks the workouts had really been effective and I was able to go back up without complaint! Those lazy beggars at the Elivi have the luxury of a lift 😱

I wouldn't be surprised to see new apartments on the land in years to come. There used to be another "wild" campsite circa 2005 at the bottom of the hill on the right just before you go up to the dog shelter.
