Oddly enough, I've read it again quiote a few times - sort of like a diary for me. Not quite yet, but in a couple of days I'll be saying "See you Friday"

Quite a few studios and hotels don't have proper shower holders, meaning that you have to hold the shower in one hand and wash with the other. To save yourself this palaver, Google "suction shower head holder" where you will find a great little device, allowing you to enjoy your shower. Mine only cost about £2 and I never set off without it! Bob

The zapper is like a small tennis racquet. It has a metal grid instead of strings and is battery powered. You just swipe it at a wasp, press the button and the wasp is despatched. It is available on the web and from the Pound shop. Bob

Oh boy, you like to live dangerously! I take it that your wife has not joined this Forum then! It does work on house flies at home. Bob

A word of warning. When wasps are killed violently, they give off a thingy which attracts other wasps to come and take revenge. I try to leave them alone.

We stayed Amalia apt at koukounaries in 2014. its in the middle of the forest and a short walk to the beach, We read all the reviews and had our reservations.its a basic but very clean. Two brothers run the complex and have a wealth of knowledge. We met so so many people who return year in and year out and have become friends on our return to the uk. MY TWO BIGGEST TIPS ARE.....
1...Take a fan! Aircon is great but a fan is cheaper and the breeze is instant. 2...On your first day/night wear long trousers ( cottons are a must) you might think you look stupid but mozzies love fresh blood on their first day.for some reason they dont bother you as much after that
3....( and this is priceless).....if after visiting Koukounaries beach, which is a must!, exit the beach from the harbour side ( unless you get the water taxi back, 5 euros) you'll come out at the Mandraki Hotel. Then catch the bus back to bus stop 26 ( koukounaries beach) tell the bus driver you wish to go to Skiathos town. The drivers are wise to this and dont usually charge you as its only 2 stops ( we did this everytime we went to town and never got charged once) once you get to the terminus dont get off stay on the bus. The conductor will then take the 2euro fare and you get to sit down all the way to your destination....PRICELESS...TRUST ME!!

Have tried killing those little suckers.....They're hard as nails and fearless, they dont bother you outside but once in your room holy moly .....just keep your nets closed

anyone had problems with snakesssss! I have seen quite a few snakes whilst on the island, they don't look like scary bright coloured jungle things, just lightish brown, quite large and do have teeth like most snakes, in fact one beach has a sign to the rear of the taverna warning of snakes (micro assellinos) I was told by locals they are brown adders but I never hung around to identify them.... I also read a post by "Gary" regarding scorpions and can confirm I also spotted a little critter that resembled a 🦂 this was in the troulos area and on my ground floor patio!!!

Back to the wasps... they are annoying and do sting but the sting from a uk wasp hurts about ten times more. Also the things that look like wasps are probably bees as they don't look like what us brits associate with honey 🐝... I have been stung several times in skiathos but only after sitting on one or putting my hands on them by accident....
