Heavy rain overnight on Sunday causing problems with the WiFi in our hotel, hence no post yesterday. Monday headed to the port for test, massive queue, the lady behind us took out her passport and unfortunately the wind caught it and blew it out of her hand into the sea, her husband reacted quickly and climbed down a conveniently placed ladder attached to the jetty wall, he managed to retrieve it but it was soaked through, I hope this doesn’t cause her problems at the airport etc. Queue took just over an hour, test quick and painless, headed to Syranio for breakfast and to send request for results in English, they arrived within an hour, both negative. Due to uncertainty about the weather after returning the hire car we decided to do our holiday shopping, which for some reason included 2 new dresses for herself? The weather improved steadily during the day turning into a hot/sunny afternoon. Heading to Riccie e pouverie for tapas tonight as it’s our friends anniversary, thankfully we had the foresight to book a table as it was fully booked. Excellent tapas, great service and stunning views

Two dresses? No handbags or jewellery? I do my purchases over 14 days not so noticable. Husband as bad he can’t buy one leather belt has gone two slightly different buckles, very good quality should last for years, quite expensive but lovely thick leather and smelled lovely, I love that olive wood shop too. Do you have to book at many tavernas this year or just the really popular ones? I love the evening stroll and couple of drinks while deciding.

We normally decide’ off the cuff’ so to speak as to where and when we eat, R&P always busy so knew we’d have to book, so much choice and we’re very rarely disappointed. I must own up, I usually purchase a belt from the leather shop on papadiamanti, i like the fact he’ll punch holes to suit your requirements. just opened the balcony door to be greeted by a roll of thunder, May have to rethink today’s beach plans

This buying of stuff on holiday is easily and logically explained. You/we do it because it’s there like mountains. I stopped buying belts many years ago - with my shape, I was simply buying stuff to trip over when I took my hands out of my pockets. So I buy T-shirts, which don’t fall down due to me having shoulders wider than the head hole, and gyros, beer and origami crisps, none of which I have at home.

Nice and sunny albeit a tad cloudy at the moment, however ponchos and umbrellas have appeared outside some shops, wind has got up usually an indication of a change in the weather.

I’ve looked out for you & Sue when passing Main Street, Dave … to no avail. Hope the flight goes to plan for you tomorrow … unless you are secretly hoping for an extra day!

Oh dear - am just sitting in Syraino and it seems to be persisting down again! The hotel has kindly loaned brollies to us guests, so I’m a bit better prepared than earlier 😏

We called in about 6pm but sat inside just in case it started to rain again, only stayed for a short while, we decided to eat early to avoid forecast bad weather, we ate tonight at the taverna Cuba, family run, good basic Greek food, frequented by the locals which we always think is a good yardstick. we spent the remainder of our evening in Phedrock, we guessed we could get a seat inside and it’s only a very short walk from our hotel. As it turns out both ourselves and our friends appear to have hit, as Kev so rightly described it, our wall, so an early night on the cards.

I never thought I would utter these words, but it’s a. Miserable morning here in Skiathos, dark clouds and drizzle in the air. Our flight is not till 9pm so many hours to kill, we don’t want to venture to far as a downpour is forecast early afternoon. Found a new breakfast cafe ‘Il posto’ just off papadiamanti street heading towards marmita, really good and reasonably priced
