Well, it’s on the playlist, and the kids aren’t with us, so…

Brownie points for me - I listened to all of it!!! (and didn't feel assaulted).

Cheers, that’s appreciated.
I think there are 14 of us on the plane. Flying in 25 minutes, but no one has got on in the last five.

They're still filling the cabin with air so that you can breathe during the flight (take small breaths so that it lasts longer).
If we knew your flight number we could Flightradar24 you.

Nah, that’s Gatwick already a couple of hours departed, arriving in next to no time. Gotta be Jet2, Newcastle or Manchester.

yM, my guess is Manchester, think Leeds flights would have stopped by now. Stand to be corrected. If you’re of a frame of mind when you appreciate things are closing down this is a fantastic time to visit, locals are less stressed , but service still exactly the same. We tend to visit early May for exactly the reason, not so much hustle and bustle but still a fabulous feeling of being on holiday.

Landed. We ended up with 24 on the plane. It holds c.200. Begs the question why they didn’t cancel you - sure, probably needed the plane to take people back, but giving you a return flight ticket looks awfully bad cost-effectiveness.

Quiet? It’s like the zombie apocalypse! Well, that’s local, town may be different. We spent the middle of the day walking round the Kanapitsa headland. Very nice, interesting to see how many villas are up there, both private and for rent. The temperature is reasonably warm, but quite windy. When the wind gets up, it’s . On the walk, something which would usually have me sweating buckets, I was fine in a pair of jeans. The hotel is very nice, in all sorts of ways it doesn’t need to be. I’ll post more on that later. For now, we’re on the beach, on sun loungers, and it appears we don’t have to pay for them as we’re guests. More to follow.

Gosh, that song takes me back! College and early days for me and Paul as a couple … nostalgia overload ☺️
I very, very nearly booked to fly out yesterday, YM … and if I had it would most likely have been to stay at the Princess, as there was a really good deal on. In the end I decided to stay put and get on with essential tasks like getting the decorating finished and selling my superfluous car - oh, and getting quotes for a new CH boiler 😞
Will read your reports eagerly … enjoy the beach!

Last night we went into town. Had some grilled meat from one of those places with rotating spits outside, just up the steps from Rock ‘n’ Roll. A reminder that cooking decent ingredients in the right way doesn’t necessitate an unfathomably complex recipe.
Booked a boat trip for Monday.
Took the Bus to Koukounaries. As far as I can tell, on the first straight, there’s only Big Bad Wolf open at one end, and Agustera at the other, the latter possibly/probably closing tonight.
Currently on the beach at Princess, the sun changes every 5 minutes between ‘hidden behind a cloud’ and ‘crikey, is it still August’. If it were still August, I might find this irritating, but it’s actually very pleasant. Little-to-no breeze helps.
Getting the bus to Maratha soon. We plan to have a walk round there, on to Koukounaries beach for a bit, pop into Agustera to say goodbye for the winter, then back here for food.
More later. Including pensioners with rucksacks.

Maestrali was nice, it felt very authentic.
Lamb chops and beef stifado, they’d run out of moussaka.
We’re on a boat trip today, it sails round and visits the neighbouring islands, so that’ll be something else ticked off the list.
Despite being in our mid-50s, we’re among the youngest in the hotel. Or on the island. It’s quite strange, but in town the other night around half the people we saw were pensioners in thick jackets with rucksacks on their backs. What’s all that about? It’s just a bizarre look for the island, though I’m sure it’s very practical.
More later.

Probably a group/s of senior walkers/hikers who prefer the cooler weather to enjoy their long walks/hikes around the island. I remember back on on my last holiday in Skiathos, mid to late September, there was a large group of German walkers who holidayed on the island at that time every year. They took over the Pegasus restaurant for an early evening meal following their trek in Platanias. The restaurant was out of action all afternoon whilst they organised it for the group.
