I reckon 70% chance he’ll be converted to an Elivi lover, write a glowing report and be rewarded with 7 nights free in High Season 2022 (that’s free including flights for all his family and a bunch of mates and free jet skis and lots of stuff). I’m wondering about sending him a PM asking for a few Euromillions numbers.

There was a 10% chance of rain all yesterday post-noon, and it rained heavily in the evening 8:15-ish onwards for an hour.
Marmita was fantastic in every way, including the price, which was more expensive than usual, but not vastly so.
Not looking forward to the rigmarole today. Elivi May look nice, but I think we’ll just end up pretty much losing the last day.

OMG how the other half lives. He gets a free day in the Elivi and calls it “losing”!!! It is. There’s nothing here apart from a nice building and over-priced drinks. The weather isn’t anyone’s fault, but the poor organisation is. We only found out what was happening late on yesterday. So we had no idea when we were leaving, and we’re unable to plan the last day at all. In a 7-day holiday, the last day is a large % of your time. Because of the poor organisation, it’s pretty much been lost. The flight is at 8:50pm. Had the hotel heard nothing from Jet2 they were going to literally kick us out on the street at 1:30pm. Our Jet2 rep didn’t have a clue what was going on until just before calling us. This isn’t anything to do with our transfer from the Palace, there are people here who’ve been booked into the Princess for months. You wouldn’t pay for a 90 minute football match and be happy if the teams stopped playing and just had a kick around for the last 10 minutes. Why is acceptable to be charged for a 7-day holiday and only get 6?

Small glass of white wine and a small (330ml) bottle of beer €13. Wouldn’t it be beneficial for you to catch the bus into town for a few hours, i Think that’s what I would do

Back to last night and Marmita.
WOW!
Julie had a Moussaka. I had a taste, best I’ve ever had.
I had roasted rabbit in Samos sweet wine sauce. I like rabbit, and it’s devilishly difficult to cook without being either tough or stringy. The gamey flavour makes it tough to sauce. But this was pretty much perfect.
The ambience was lovely, the staff attentive, and the pre-meal bread amazing. The wine was very good, and quite reasonable. €17.50, vs us usually paying maybe €10 for a litre of house, that’s not too bad at all. Most places the proper bottles start at €20, and aren’t as good as this.
Pretty much every evening meal this week we’ve paid a few bob either way of €45 - that’s a couple of beers, one or two starters, two mains, and a litre of house. Last night was just over €65, which is a little more, but there was a more than noticeable jump in quality. Price-wise, we wouldn’t want to go every night, but certainly once a holiday.
As such, Marmita gets my top recommendation.

Marmita sounds good - I'm not sure why I've never tried it. One for next year's list. Sorry you've had such a disappointing last day - I think I would have probably done the bus/town thing, as Dave suggested. But the Elivi could have turned out to be amazing - and it's a rainy day, so that makes it all a bit trickier, especially if you'd decided to take your luggage with you and then taxi to the airport from town.
Is Julie not that enthusiastic about holidaying in Skiathos again next year? Or possibly just not keen on a September one 🙄
Looking forward to the photos/videos - kalo taxidi to you both.

Done Marmita twice, once in 2019 and once this year and couldnt really fault it either time from my own point. There was some minor issue with someone's meal in the group in 2019 and they gave us an extra bottle of wine on the house.

I've tried to get flights as early as possible just for this reason that you are less likely to have a wasted final day. Early evening isnt so bad if you have somewhere like the tennis club to go then if you are checking in around 5pm it only seems a short while after having lunch there and it's time to call a taxi to the airport (or walk, as I have done the odd time from there).

I’ve had similar evening flight times before, both times whilst being at the Palace (once was last day of the season), and both times no problem.
The real kick in the teeth. The mini bus picked us up from Elivi. On the way to the airport it stopped to pick up a couple.
I chatted with them, and they’d been at the Almira. As it was the last day, the manager said they didn’t have to leave their room at the allotted time, but could continue to use it, and all the hotel’s facilities, until they were picked up. He also made them a free meal, and threw in free wine and Mythos.
I think the difference between his attitude, and that if the staff at Princess, sums it up for me.

Here’s a lovely coda.
Last day NOT ruined.
We went for a walk. Round the Elivi (very nice) and to the Bananas.
The Elivi has a funicular railway, which is the third I know about on the island.
We went for a walk. On to Koukounaries at the west end. Right down it. Past all three beach bars, all closed.
Back on to Bus Stop 23, then down past the first stretch (23-24, Big Bad Wolf to Under the Pine Tree), everything closed, including both supermarkets. Then the second stretch (24-25, Pine Tree to Maistrali), all closed and boarded up. Then on to the third and final stretch (25-26, Maidtrali to Elivi), and right near the very end, what’s that? It’s an a-board/chalkboard. Cookoonari is still open!
Souvlaki, tzatziki, pitta, chips and Mythos for €7.50 each. RESULT!
Once again, locally owned, family run businesses win out over the faceless automatons.
Sat at the airport now. Last Mythos of the holiday. Well, I say last, we don't board for another half hour, so who knows.

Am so pleased that you had a good day in the end! The Cokoonari family are lovely - genuinely happy to greet their new and returning customers.
Is the Almira in Troulos? Has been done up and re-named. If it's the one I think it is, it's gaining a very good reputation.
