Okay, there are six months until the first flights from the U.K. to Skiathos start up again, but I hope this isn’t a sign of things to come. www.bbc.com/news/business-58981507

Having got stung last year booking flights early to give confidence to the airlines only to see the same flights at not much more than half the price closer to my actual holiday dates I'm not booking anything so far ahead for next year. I was thinking of giving Skiathos a miss in 2022 anyway so I'm more open to potential alternative destinations in any case.

The only comment I dare make, is that last year we self-isolated a fortnight before the government told us to and the recent enquiry finding was the govt acted late.

Had my booster covid 3 weeks ago, i hope this isnt regular occurance. Two days ago i had flu and shingles vaccine and have felt very ill since, aching, shivering both arms hurt so much i can hardly move them. Shingles jab lasts 5 years but im not having flu one again if this is how you feel, id never had one before last year and never had flu. i wonder if the covid jab makes you more senetive to the flu one ? anyone else had side effects, all so we can travel

I had booster then flu a week apart (they wouldn’t do flu at same time simply because they didn’t have any). I’ve had no side effects.

I’m struggling to understand why ‘ plan B ‘ hasn’t been initiated, it’s as clear as day it’s going to happen, why not sooner than later. My own personal opinion is that most of the population would have no problem whatsoever with the reintroduction of masks indoors in certain venues, social distancing fine, may reduce venues capacity but at least continuing trade. We had a weekend in Berlin booked from tomorrow, decided to switch to Edinburgh, looks like Germany putting uk on the naughty list , maybe a lucky escape for us

We have double jabbed, boosted and flu-ed ourselves and we continue to wear face masks inside and gloves in shopping.
We HOPE we don’t get Covid. We wish they’d do Plan B. NOW!!!

On the bus yesterday morning. 30-seater, one empty seat, 6 standing. I was the only one wearing a mask.
I DEFINITELY don’t want this to get political * just monitor what’s happening between now and May.
* For the record I largely agree with Dennis, but that debate is probably for elsewhere.

“Just monitor what’s happening between now and May”.
Or perhaps you’d like to stand between the railway lines monitoring an oncoming Intercity 125?

It’s pathetic when the health of the nation comes down to politics. Look at the House of Commons with most of the opposition wearing masks, yet only a couple on the government side wearing them. Now it is difficult for the government to bring compulsory mask wearing back again without being accused of backing down. Both sides are as bad as each other. Heaven help us. Bob

Google ‘greece vaccination rates’ and click on the news tab.
It’s all kicking off, as they say.
Cases on the rise (though there’s been a slight dip in the last week), less-than-ideal vaccination rates, new lockdown restrictions on the unvaccinated, which the Greek PM promised he wouldn’t do as recently as Tuesday.
Norway has imposed quarantine on people arriving from certain Greek regions.
The one good thing here is that we still have 5 months until next season.

In relation to another thread, and just so the right stuff is on the right place.
GET YOUR BOOSTER!
It could save you from serious illness, hospitalisation, or even death, which one might consider reason enough.
However, and in addition, three countries, including 2 in Europe, are now only considering you to be fully vaccinated if either (a) your 2nd jab was within the last 9 months (or 6 months in the case of Israel), or (b) you’ve had a third, booster jab. My understanding is that there’s no time limit on the booster AT THE MOMENT, but if the boosters are found to fade as fast as the first two, that may become inevitable.
So far the only European countries to require this are Austria and Croatia, but Greece’s general vaccination rate isn’t the best, so it won’t be any surprise if they go down the same route.
In addition, please keep checking the timing. If you’ve already had your booster, and are due to go after May, AND boosters are given a time limit, your current booster may not cover you. As the NHS won’t give you a jab until at least 6 months after the previous one, this may lead to all sorts of timing issues.
Example (based on a 6 month time limit) - if you get your booster on 10th January, and have a holiday booked starting 1st June, you won’t be able to get your 2nd booster before you go. But Greece might not be happy that you revert to being classed as unvaccinated while you’re there. You’ll probably still be able to go, but be required to have a test before going. The U.K. may require you to have a pre-return test , too.
If the time limit is 9 months, move that holiday start date to 1st September for the same result.
Lots of ifs and buts there, but it’s a very genuine possibility, and a little forewarning is never a bad thing.

even if its not 6 moths since 2nd jab you can go online and book when due, my husbands booster not due until December, but he had e mail saying could book. When you quote nhs number it tells you the date you can book from in his case half the appointments the first day available already booked. so book early for christmas.
i really think time to impose masks again on transport and shops
