Hi stayed here about5 years ago, Asimini didnt speak any english, her daughter did, she will bring you eggs and tomatoes. very nice garden full of veg. There is old block and new er studios , if you get newer ones they have higher ceilings and probably cooler. in july the older type we had didnt have aircon no fans available and it was like an oven.Only small window and door one side so very dark. Also no electric kettle had to boil water in little open top jug . The sheets were only changed after 7 days and the toilet bin only after 7 days which is disgusting, specially as the toilet shower opened onto the kitchen. we booked with thomas cook the photograph was the newer room not our cave. we rang the rep who said take toilet bin contents to the nearby ig rubbish bins. i said i dont go on holiday to empty my own bin. we left after 7 days and got a room at aphrodite which was modern spotless and fabulous view, i felt the holiday started then . Also the tennis club courts are directly behind and people play very early to avoid the heat so you wake to thump thump noise of the balls. The plus points, you do not hear the clubs on new strip, oasis is 50 yards up the back lane Mike will make you very welcome good pool plenty sun beds good food entertainment some nights a lifesaver for us. we booked there the next year. I complained to thomas cook when i got back saying misrepresentation i got £150 refund.. its up to you but i think you can get far better accommodation, i found it depressing.

Thanks for info. The booking details says aircon included so assume either in newer rooms or they have upgraded in last 5 yesrs. Its booking.com I can cancel up to end of July with no penalty so can look around for alternatives.

Kev, do you know Stephen Waddington? He posts lots of fabulous photos on various Facebook groups. Stephen stayed here last year, I seem to remember, so you could ask him for his thoughts.
I've just seen that we'll overlap by a clear day - the 3rd Sept - so hopefully we can all meet up for a drink. I think there will be some others there from the Fb solos group, as we're going on a boat trip on 7th. Am excited already!!

I can't remember if I posted anything on here about my May holiday, but it's been booked since late 2019, shortly after Paul died, when our close friends asked me if I would like to join them and their three daughters, plus families, for a two week stay at the Myrtia. I jumped at it - we'd been away with them many times, several times in Skiathos and their girls are like family. Anyway, Covid happened and the holiday was pushed back and back and should finally happen this May.
All good until, late last year our friend was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer. It was such a huge shock as they had joined me at the end of my holiday last September and we spent a lovely weekend together - he had been on top form. So, the holiday was once again doubtful. I eventually decided that if I was the only one going I would move my accommodation to town, nearer to the date, as the Myrtia is down a sandy track and the lights are not always on. As it happens, the holiday WILL be going ahead, but we will be one man down as our friend passed away a couple of weeks ago.
It will be a different Myrtia holiday without both Paul and our amazing friend, but we will all grieve and heal together in our special place and remember them both. I've a hunch that there may even be some scattering of ashes so that he and Paul are in the same place again.
Sorry to be so sombre, but there may some references to this when I do my May holiday report 💙

I will directly message him on fb thanks for the tip. Hopefully we might get a '3 out, one in' swap over meet in Sept

Thats so sad Kate, similar has happened to my friend she lost her husband of 50years in november due to covid only 69. their friends they always went away with the husband also died 6 weeks later due to cancer. So the two ladies are going away together this summer, torn between going to a place they have been several times as a foursome, will it be upsetting or going somewhere new in greece they dont know. Such sad times they considered skiathos having stayed skopelos and Alonissos several times, but couldnt get any accommodation they wante

We have stayed in Asimina on 3 occasions and never had a problem , the rooms are basic but clean, the towels etc. were changed every other day and the bins emptied every day. Good location set in beautiful gardens , peaceful and quiet, 10 minute stroll into Town. Asimina does speak English but prefers not to , however, her daughter Kelly does most of the chatting. Lovely people , I would say give it a go , don't think you will be disappointed .

I've been in contact with Stephen Waddington who stayed at Asimina's last year and he gave a positive review. I have also contacted the owners myself via booking.com and they have confirmed that the rooms have air con, TV and wi-fi. Stephen did mention they had a lot of friendly cats and as my partner has 4 of her own she's happy to give it a go now we know about the air con (I suspect this holiday is going to cost me a lot in cat food now though!). Thanks all for your input on this.

You will like Asimina and you will be treated like family if you accept their wonderful hospitality and return it , no secret , that's the way it is , be prepared to become Greek .
