Thanks Kev. Coincidence, I actually went for the HC500, but when I typed that into Amazon, it found loads of animal cameras, but not that one. So I bought the Meidase S3 which looks identical, but on studying isn’t as good (e.g. no WiFi). I’ve only had it a week, but I’ll see how it goes, then I’ll probably get the HC500 from your link. I didn’t fancy it at first from text on description, poor translations. But with a recommendation like yours I shall revisit it. I have liked what I’ve seen so far and will be interested in getting improved video. The Meidase can set video length daytime, but night is limited to 10 seconds. I love the idea of WiFi link as I have extended WiFi down to pond summerhouse and it’d be lovely to watch them from the sofa!

I’d love to hear what visits, do u have badgers we were plagued with them the last house, constantly digging holes in the lawn for worms and to make a toilet they dug up all my carrots and other veg and ate them them dug huge holes in flower bed under the fence to next door where they ripped open rabbit hutch and killed it. We put a small electric fence up in the end only way to keep them out.

Well, I’m finding that this time of year is not the best for animal cameras. Sadly, we’ve had a bunch of foggy nights, when the motion sensors work, but the fog hides the animal well enough for it being impossible to identify in court! Then later on, in the early hours, the lens gets condensation with similar ghostly results.
I have actually now got the HC500 recommended by Kev and like it. BUT having ploughed ahead with my usual “Never mind the manual” attitude, I have failed miserably to connect my iPhone to it, to the extent that I’ve had to resort to emailing them for help. I actually did connect to it last night in my office, but I have no idea how and can’t repeat the success now that I have stuck the camera on a cherry tree. So I’ll see the first results tomorrow, but only by fishing out the SD card.
With the first camera I saw two foxes (together) one night, individual foxes at other times, several cats (at least five different ones, which added their calling cards to the others around the garden), a big rat, in daylight pigeons, magpies, crows, ravens, sparrows, robin, blackbird, squirrel. I can’t be bothered monitoring the pond, ornamental bushes obstruct most viewpoints, so a night observation got nothing.

We were also plagued by a rat that we saw running out from under a bush several times and it terrified old lady next door . We laid a trap it took the food without setting it off. So Annie Oakley me sat very patiently in the bedroom window with an air rifle after scattering tempting food on the lawn . The crafty rat ran out in a zig zag pattern I hit it it lept 2 feet in the air and dropped dead. It was a good eight inch long , I threw it over the hedge into the field no doubt for the badgers or foxes to eat. I hate rats and didn’t want it to run out when my grandson there and frighten him. Keep us posted what’s eating the fishes

Wow, Cariad! Remind me never to annoy you ~ you are obviously not someone to be messed with Me three! Must have been a heck of a decent air rifle to do away with a big rat. Must have been a heck of a decent shot to get it. When I was a boy I had a seond hand air rifle which I couldn't hit anything with (I was trying to shoot flies from about 2 feet away) and it was only just powerful enough to squirt a little pellet out the end of the barrel.

My lovely plate dad taught me to target shoot as a little girl, I never lost my eye for it. I thought it normal to be able to hit a matchstick stuck in a potatoe! My husband grew up with shotguns living in the country then joined the army for several years in REME. He had an air rifle when I met him 17 years ago he was abit surprised when he set target s up and saw me shoot. After a holiday at earners where we went to a shooting session which I won , he said don’t think I better ever upset you.! The last challenge was to hit a golf tee at 50 yards which surprised me when I did it. Don’t worry Dennis I won’t be taking gun to troulos in July!

In the RAF I fired a Bren gun and a .303 rifle. I actually earned my marksman badge for putting five shots into a small group. But that was over 60 years ago so either I’ve lost the knack by now or I’m a wobbly Elderly so I guess my rat feels safe (and I haven’t got an air rifle anyway).

Tell you what Cariad, rather than test myself, why don’t you bring your air rifle to Keynsham and get rid of my pests - I can tolerate a single rat, but you’d earn kudos and gratitude if you got rid of the cats!

Get rid of the cats, I advise you don’t post this on FB , not if you value your own safety.

Yes, Dave, I know. But I also know what it's like weeding with bare hands when you find the cat has been there. And when you go weeding the next part. Etc. Etc. My animal camera captured five different ones in one night. And even one of the foxes cocks its leg on one of the plant pots.
