having just returned from a cheeky few days in Tenerife flying from Manchester, the only way to describe the airport experience is chaotic. up to an hour to get through security ,unless like ourselves you pay for fast track, delays caused by people’s inability to follow instructions, staffing shortages and the ridiculous scenario of people checking in at terminal 1 only to be informed their flight was now departing from terminal 3, this effected 4 different airlines.
there was little information of who was flying from which terminal until the information boards displayed the gates, then a mad dash through both terminals to reach departure gate.
a similar situation on the return journey, landing at terminal 3, then having to walk to terminal 1 where the car was parked. with this in mind we confirmed with jet 2 which terminal would we be departing from in 4 weeks time , jet 2 has always flew from terminal 2 where it has a dedicated check in area.
I’m glad we made the call because we got informed from 28th April flights to Greek islands now departing from terminal 1. An hour was then spent altering car parking and lounge booking . We also ,following the experience this week, decided to arrive an hour earlier than previously planned. i hope this information proves helpful to others flying out of Manchester

Cheers Dave.
I received an email (I suspect the same as yours) at just after 3pm yesterday evening telling us that all Jet2 flights to and from Greece (as well as other places) would now be from Terminal 1 instead of 2.
My immediate thought was that they'd just done a lot of work on Terminal 2, and we first used it in its new state last August. We were very impressed.
I hope 1 is as nice.
If you're flying from Manchester next month, please keep us posted.
Ah! 'Next month'. How good does that sound.

Conditions at Manchester Airport appear to have deteriorated.
Apparently a combination of re-opening for holidays after two years of staycations, thousands of airline workers laid off during the pandemic, problems recruiting due to high wage demands, and our old pal Brexit.
I’m glad we’re flying from Leeds in May, hopefully they’ll have this sorted by the time I fly from Manchester in September.

To be honest YM, the biggest cause of backlog at security was bags having to be 2nd checked because numpties can’t or won’t follow the guidelines on what you can or cannot put in hand luggage, coupled with those who cannot remove belt, jacket, watch etc whilst queuing, the staff at Manchester tried explaining the delay was mainly due to this fact

But surely these rules, and these numpties have been with us for years, whilst these problems haven’t.

i am never failed to see idiots bottles of stuff in hand luggage, the rules have been in place for years, why do you need to carry shampoo < and bottles make up in hand luggage ? my other pet hate (i have many) is people travelling in football shirts or tracksuits, especially old people tracksuits should be work in the gym, and people wearing shoes that take hours to remove if neccessary. note to Dennisim in training to be grumpy old lady

I think mum actually prefers coming down and staying with me then flying from EMA than slogging it over to Manchester. Much cheaper too, she can get a cheap national express or off peak train down to me. When we went to Parga in 2020 it was £50 taxi each way from where she lives in West Yorkshire to Manchester airport. That was of course before it was possible to get to Skiathos from Leeds-Bradford. She would probably check that out if she was going to go alone.

Cariad I guess your training is coming on well. Fortunately I don’t have any football shirts or tracksuits, instead I wear interesting t-shirts, with jogging bottoms and matching joggers tops. And my footwear is fitted with elderly’s quality Velcro. Unfortunately, I don’t take my putter-on-er, so it’s either no socks (how dreadful!) or some delay dressing.
I leave my makeup at home.
