I'm hearing that the fares on new buses are already going up, the previous 2 euro fare will become 3 euro from today but don't know if it's true.

A 50% rise is some increase. Somebody boobed with the business plan. Given the complaints about the ticketing, the rude and speedy drivers and no calling out of bus stops, I wonder if they will have shot themselves in the foot with this increase. This can only benefit the green buses, unless the also increase their prices.

Those are such easy problems to fix, too.

We’ll probably find out tomorrow if nobody is sooner - had a day in today, but going into town tomorrow.

Those are such easy problems to fix, too. Publish how under copyright and make yourself a fortune! The new buses were doomed before they started - too many buses, not cost effective, never mind the things we dislike. A guy on Facebook recommended them wholeheartedly and published detailed instructions on how to buy tickets!

Just seen a post on Trip Advisor that the white buses are now three euros, but the green ones still two.

If I was staying somewhere like Kouk and transfers weren't included I'd still be using the new buses to get to the airport though. The market will decide, if they can't make them cost effective they won't be there in future years and if people boycott them then they definitely won't be there and whatever is left will be packed again in peak season and people will complain about the buses being full

Just seen a post on Trip Advisor that the white buses are now three euros, but the green ones still two. We CHOSE the green buses today and are hoping to use them exclusively. Price was still 2 Euros and for that we had comfortable rides and friendly drivers and conductors. Long May the green buses survive - I’m not too concerned about the price, as a self employed whitevanman I understand running cost must be covered, plus profit. Buses are an expensive layout.l

Those are such easy problems to fix, too. Publish how under copyright and make yourself a fortune! Kelso noted: Being polite costs nothing. Driving at the same speed as the green buses costs nothing*. Calling out the names of bus stops costs nothing. It's not rocket surgery. * Between Bus Stops 0 and 26 (both ways) the timetable for both green and white buses appears to allow the same 30 minutes. Is the time allowed between airport and 0 enough? If the buses were having to drive dangerously fast due to a miscalculation there, I'm not sure an adjustment could be made.

"It's not rocket surgery."Rocket surgery or brain science? Sorry YM, couldn't resist! I read somewhere earlier on that the white bus operator has a 15 year contract and several million euros has gone into the Skiathos municipality coffers. Just had a look to see which group I read it on, but can't find it again. I did find (on Skiathos Island News) that the bus company is asking for feedback from the public and seems to want to improve their service. Early days, I suppose ...

Tell them to ask ME for feedback. These are city bus services, get ‘em on, get their money, run them round and devil take the hindmost other traffic, push the bus in front of anything else on the road. The manner of driving, the quality of the seating (mind your piles!), the disregard for passengers, all about belting from here to there in heavy city traffic and no passengers staying on board for more than a few stops. It’s not Benidorm (joke, just saying it’s not appropriate for Skiathos.).

Agreed.
I suppose teething problems are inevitable. If Kate us right and they’re asking for feedback, I’m sure they’ll get it, and will hopefully act on it.

Here is the link for messages to the new bus company. Give your feedback, they are looking for comments on how to improve the service. If you think they go too fast and the timetabling needs addressing, tell them. If you think it is important that the stops are announced, tell them. They want happy customers because that means repeat customers. skiathostransports.gr/en/contact-2/

Well done Kev, you’re a helluva asset here. I shall take note of that and sit down to compose a considered contribution.

I think that initially it is the way forward. Start with something positive, even if it is just along the lines of 'welcoming additional services to areas previously inaccessible by bus' and then going on to point out where improvements still need to be made. If they get enough people saying the same things then they cannot complain that they were not informed of any shortcomings. They can't be expected to be constantly trawling social media looking for people's gripes. They have opened up a channel of communication and it is up to us as the customer to make some effort.
