Continuing in winding down mode this will probably be my last dispatch before we leave. Yesterday was the last full day but the weather looked overcast so we couldnt decide what to do. Leisurely breakfast, still overcast. We all ended up going our separate ways. Mum wanted to go say goodbye to the people at Taxiarchis, I think she might be back there again at some point.
Anne went to tennis club. Helen fancied a mooch in town and I got a bit of walking done down the end of airport strip and a little way up into the punta.
Joined Helen later and we had a light bite at No Name then Helen wanted to do a final swim off the new ladder at the Bourtzi. I put myself in charge of looking after her stuff rather than swim myself. All the cloud had burned off by now and it was hot. Much to my consternation Helen decided to swim over to Ginfish and get out on the little shingle 'beach' at the end. Its a busy channel with trip boats, day hire craft, water taxis and now the red 'submarine'. Fortunately she made it across unscathed and I walked back round from Bourtzi to Ginfish with her clothes.
During the morning I had also been in touch with someone on the island to hatch a plot which Im afraid I cant go into detail at this point but will at some point in the future, probably in the winter. Lets just say its probably not strictly legal in places so the less said for now the better. It took up the rest of the afternoon.
Showers and off to town for final meal and something a bit special at 1901. Not eaten there in years but its still a slight cut above your average backstreet taverna. I went for tommahawk pork steak and what a monster it was.
We were chatting about the boat trip when at that exact moment the 2 couples from Elivi that we met on the trip walked past the table! bit of a coincidence considering 1901 isnt exactly on a main thoroughfare.
Nipped briefly into old port house to say goodbye to David & Libby but too packed to stay for a drink.
Final stop was Blind Dog but that was filling to uncomfortable levels, Saturday night after all. Lots of people still arrive on Fridays so Sat is their first crack at town.
Hung on to say hi to our own katet and also some facebookers, one who I hadnt seen since 2019.
We were all flagging a bit so with the spectre of packing in the morning looming we jumped in a taxi and headed home.

The likelihood is we will either be at tennis club or Oasis for a final lazy day. We have been allowed to keep 2 rooms at apts free until 6pm which is great for storing luggage and having a last shower before airport. Kevb signing off from another holiday, this one will always be a bit special because of the engagement of course but would have been a good 'un even without. Now you can all concentrate on Kate's reports.
Helen about to set off across the harbour to come ashore at Ginfish
