Everyone's reports are good to read, especially for those back in the UK so I will be looking out for yours and subsequently Dennis's to entertain me at lunch breaks, it's all good. I know it can seem a bit of a chore when you have stuff to do out there but they are all appreciated.

Thanks very much for your detailed reports Kev. Like all good writers you’ve left us with a cliff hanger to be revealed later, unless the illegality is such that you end up incarcerated! 😱😄 enjoy your last day. It's been a bit stressful and some to-ing and fro-ing, messaging, web searches, emails etc but we may have a breakthrough and I will update you all hopefully in the next few weeks. It's probably going to be a bit of an anticlimax for some of you but all will hopefully be revealed soon.

So here's the story. Scroll back to page 2. The little white kitten particularly took to us and frequently slept all night in the apartment with us and was never any bother. However speaking to those in the know there was more than a suspicion that kittens at Asiminas went 'missing' in the winter. Sadly the poisoning of strays in the winter has been going on in Greece and other countries for years I could see it preying on Helens mind as the holiday went on and Im not made of stone myself. But what to do? By luck I know a couple who live permanently on the island and are heavily involved with cats there. After some messaging I hatched a plot while Helen was mooching in town the day before we were due to fly home. I took her back to apts mid afternoon when it was quiet. By a complete fluke we had accicentally locked the kitten (nicknamed Bowie as she has differently coloured eyes) in the apt. I explained to Helen were going to catnap the kitten. More to follow...

So we needed some cover in case an upset cat drew too much attention. I lured little Bowie into my rucksack and made a beeline for the back lanes. Helen brought up the rear playing mudic on her phone to disguise the cries coming from the rucksack which got louder the further we went. Undeterred I pressed on, leaving Helen behind. By some bizarre twist her phone playlist started playing David Bowies hits. Couldnt make it up. I had prearranged that our friends would meet us on the paralia with car and cat carrier. All went pretty smoothly though Bowie was naturally a bit distressed. She stayed with our friends for some time while we tried to work out how to get her back to the UK. Since Brexit it has become more difficult and expensive. We got huge help from our friends getting her neutered and fully vaccinated and provided with a pet passport. Then another stroke of luck in that another family were also repatriating a Skiathos cat but we had to move fast to be able to piggyback onto the logistics (no saving in costs though!) So finally this week Bowie was taken to the mainland and has spent last 3 or 4 days in a proper animal courier van and travelled overland through Europe then ferried over the channel this morning. Im now sat in services on the M6 waiting to intercept our cat, the other one is going to live in Cheshire. During our wait while she was getting the pet passport we found out that neither of her siblings survived, both were killed by dogs so the chances of Bowie surviving to next season were practically nil without intervention. We stole her but saved her life.

Kev, I don't have an emoji for 'hearts' on this device but sending you and Helen lots of virtual ones. Hope Bowie loves her new home in the UK xxx

Well done Kev and Helen, you now have a permanent reminder of your engagement holiday. So kind of you. We fed and fussed cats at morfia this year hard to read regular feeders found mother and grown kittens all neutered poisoned also several other cats in the area missing. It appals me how some Greeks treat animals. I presume the other kittens could have been killed by mikes dog at oasis just along the lane, I read his dog killed a kitten in front of horrified guests, his comment shouldn’t have gone near the dogs food! Well done to that lady on the island who helped, think I can guess her name, which I won’t mention she does so much.

Yes we were told that it was the dogs from Oasis that killed Bowie's siblings (think they were both boys but they didnt really come to our apts much). I will post some photos of Bowie as she settles in. Im still planning moving down with Helen next year so my place is a temporary arrangement, she will move down south probably at xmas.
