Is it possible for next season, Dennis? Or do they sign a contract for a few years?

Hope you had a good flight EGG and are now nicely settled in at Fengeros Village. I’ll be interested to read your reports about it. It must be brilliant to wake up knowing that you’ve three and a half weeks stretching in front of you! Have a fabulous time 😎

So everything went really well yesterday apart from 35 minute wait on the tarmac at Stansted, air traffic control stuff. Good flight landed in the Southerly direction with no wind assistance, strongest braking of all our flights and hit the runway so hard thought undercarriage was coming through the floor🙄. Passport control was slow but jumped in a taxi and arrived at 9.30, 2 beers and bed. Lovely day today about 23 degrees and a pleasant breeze. Victoria delivered our quad at 9.30 so we headed down to the new supermarket near the airport to get some room essentials, beer, wine and crisps not the oregano ones, sorry Dennis. We then wondered down to Megali Ammos beach and spent the afternoon in various establishments trying the beer. Pricewise averaging €4.5-5. Had a mid afternoon lunch of Prawn Saganaki, proper Kalamari and chips, Greek Salad, bread, water and a large draught €35, sorry can't remember the taverna name, nice though. Town tonight.

Walked into town and headed Straight for the old port house bar €3 for a large Mythos but €9 for a Pina Collada, soon weened her off those😄 Had a few in there and a couple in Admiral Benboes followed by a Gyros in the street and a taxi back (€9). Wednesday morning pleasant breakfast on the balcony taking in the great view over Megali Ammos and the sea, we then loaded up the quad and rode over to Ligharies beach, very quiet almost had the beach to ourselves, €10 for beds. Walked over to the left side and done a spot of fishing on the rocks and managed to catch one fish a sort of Bream shaped, spiny dorsal fin silver fish. I put him back though. Lovely lunch in Ligharies taverna, fried anchovies with a garlic dip, kalamari, chips, bread, 2 Mythos, water and a coffee €41 plus tip. Still one of my favourites. Left the beach about 4 ish and rode back towards Troulos the track was well rutted from all the rain recently, quite deep in places so take care anyone heading that way, good fun though! We rode down to Angustera bar for a cold one and then back to our hotel for cards and nibbles on the balcony.

Sounds just perfect <sighs>
Was the Agustera busy? Didn’t get as far as Koukounaries last time, but have friends staying there next week so I will be darkening Dino’s door 😊

Odd experience at Agustera in 2021. Had been further down the track with mum and decided to call in for one before getting bus back. Was given a slightly frosty 'sorry we are full' from Dino and indeed there was a sign up but he has so many jokey signs up it's hard to tell if they are real. First time I think I've been turned away from a Skiathos bar. We just got the next bus back to town. Didn't go back to Agustera at all last year.

What a shame! And very un-Greek too - although as a nation they seem obsessed with their health and Dino was no exception during Covid and since the birth of the twins. My son tried to hug him when we went back in 2020 and he backed away as if Robert was on fire! He was a stickler for the seating rules, too, so had a strict numbers limit in there. Even so, that’s no excuse to be frosty ❄️☃️

Quick update. Had another couple of days at Ligaries beach and taverna for lunch, brilliant every time. Had a lovely lunch at Platanos, the best tomahawk pork I've ever had really juicy and well seasoned and only €12 including chips etc. Spent today on Achladies beach in front of the new Octopus bar/restaurant, lovely setting and really friendly, sunbeds €10, we were really hungry lunchtime and picked 3 things off the appetiser menu, Grilled Octopus with beetroot carpaccio, slow cooked pork in a lovely sauce and seasoned meatballs in tomato and feta sauce plus chips 2 beers and 2 water, €60 we were stuffed. Apparently Goldie and Kurt eat there yesterday.

Oh and watched Kates plane fly past this afternoon Did it do a roll and/or squirt red white and blue smoke out its rear end?

Good to see octopus getting good reviews on several sites. Sounds very good. People so stuck in their ways lots people saying wouldn’t go there before it opened because liked old place! So many people going to skiathos stick to same tavernas same beaches same seats in bars, probably down to a lot of visitors being of elderly persuasion. I’ve noticed from photos on Facebook so far this year looks like saga outing. Nice to see a mixture of ages. I read one review yesterday from a chap who has posted some excellent posts with walks menus etc he was in one cafe and a woman said turn the music down we are all elderly here. Shoot me please if I get so boring.

ligaries again today, bit of fishing off the rocks (caught one again). Finally managed to get in the sea, wife's been in several times but I suffer from Dennis's problem with cold water! It's trying to get past the wedding tackle area! Made it though and it was lovely. Lunch at ligaries taverna again, Kalamari, proper chips, large octopus, half litre of white, beer and water €41 plus tip. Town tonight.

We really must consider having kalamari at Ligaries, everybody seems to praise it.
As for the cold water business, I have to admit I wish I was having that problem this year, but unfortunately on the day we should have flown (23rd June) I should be in ICU recovery, trying to pay our holiday balance for September over my iPhone from amongst the pipes and tubes and wires and whatever they stick on you in ICU - got my payment deadline extended to 23/6/23 because I didn't want to pay all that much and not make it through "to the other side" of my op on 20th!!!
