Hi All! I've just booked to go to Skiathos for the first time next year with a group of friends, really looking forward to it. I do have a few concerns about the accommodation we have booked which is the Kivo Hotel, we booked this hotel due to a fantastic price for a 4 star along with great reviews on Trip Advisor but it would seem that the general consensus amongst the regulars on the forum is that the majority of the last few months’ worth of reviews aren't genuine ones. We're not expecting all out luxury, especially given the price we've paid but I am concerned now that it may be a complete hovel! Any feedback from genuine visitors to this hotel would be greatly appreciated along with recommendations for things to do, places to eat etc. One of the couples travelling with us are intending to renew their wedding vows whilst there - they were planning to do this at the Kivo but the fake reviews combined with a lack of response to emails from the Kivo are causing concern so again any recommendations would be gratefully received - they are looking for something simple and low key. Thanks in advance!

Hi Takemetothebeach, welcome to the forum. I am by no means an expert on the Kivo Hotel, as I have never stayed there, but have driven past it a few times. Looking at their website, it looks an amazing place. Be warned though that it is situated up a very steep hill from the main road of Skiathos and as such a bit of a hike back from the beach. I expect that being a four star it does have its own taxi bus though. You will ceratintly be amazed with the view from up there! I am sure that this accommodation will be brilliant looking at the website and I am sure that your first visit to the island will be really enjoyed. Make sure you get a vehicle or catch the bus to see the rest of the island. Maybe even another Boomeranger? There is a taverna which we regularly use about 1/2 mile from the Kivo called Oliveland, which has great food and a great view looking over the coastline of the island across to Skopelos and the mainland in the distance. Here is a picture:
