This is a question for anyone who has visited the Bourtzi Cafe this year since it has changed hands, how does it compare with last year ie is the food and drink good and still reasonably priced etc and are there any significant changes? I believe the 'loos with a view' have had a long overdue makeover. PS my keyboard is beinga bit temperamental so if you spot any errors this is to let you know I'm not typing with my elbows

Hi Kathos
We visited the Bourtzi this year and yes it has had a refurb and quite smart it is. Although we had a drink one afternoon didn't having anything to eat but we are due back in a few weeks and it is our intention to have a meal there so will let you know what they are currently charging. So far as the toilets are concerned they are so different, I just kept washing my hands just so I could look at the views. They have done a good job, very modern.

Thanks Sue, I'm hoping to go towards the end of September, usually we stop for a drink and Greek salad or some other light bites but I've heard it has gone a bit swish and upmarket.
I know what you mean about keep washing your hands just to look at the view, I'm sure it would be hard to find a better one, hence 'loos with a view' haha
There's nothing nicer than sitting under one of the big umbrella's watching the sparkling diamonds on the sea.

I'm with you there. I love sitting and just looking out to sea especially when you have a cold drink in your hand. My son and his girlfriend went most days first thing in the morning for a coffee or frappe and they loved it. We can't wait to get back.

: I had a lovely sandwich at the Bourtzi - Koulouri, greek traditional bread with sesame, with olive paste, cucumber, tomato and fresh cheese €4 and can't wait to have another one when I go back! I have a photo of the sandwich and of the menu too but can't remember how to put photos on here..

I really think that talking of scanning the view whilst sitting on the toilet is a bit too much information. And don't you close the door? I didn't see a view - I go with my back to the view. But it's certainly a posh hand wash. Anyway, the Bourtzi is our favourite drop in place and we shall definitely be going there regularly again during our second 2014 visit in September. I was VERY doubtful when I saw the new loudspeaker pods, as I'm not pleased by being harassed with music from boom boxes or ghetto blasters. But in fact it was very pleasant music, sort of piano bar delightfully gentle and not loud. We have only had drinks there and were not shocked by the prices - dearer than some, not much though. Worth it for the relaxed atmosphere.
