Lost interest on the Old Boomerangers facebook page, it went completely away from being good informative help. Which was a shame , as it started off okay.

Glad to have you back Notastitch. I must admit, although I do use Facebook, it isn't really the place to look for information and although a member of the OB page, I don't post or look there very often.
TA a good place for information, but unless you ask a question or troll through many pages (and numerous questions about the same subject), it is difficult to get information.

I have to say I never found the FaceBook page - actually, never looked for it. I too have a FB membership, I was joined up by one of my nephews during one of my less competent moments at a family wedding reception in March 2010. I've posted there three times, so anybody wants to know what I had for breakfast today won't find it there. I suppose it would be going too far to say what I think of FB.

Hello dennisn,
Liked your story as a first timer to the Island of Skiathos, lovely to hear you fell in love with the place. the way you explained it is what people want to read, as it is informative & people can add to it or ask further questions. Keep up the posts & enjoy the Island.

For my first report, remember I had the advantage of never having been before, so it was relatively easy to write stuff for first timers. There must be loads I missed, but then I'm not a travel writer, just a fat old man!

I had a bad experience on Facebook. It took a lot of time and effort to get my profile completely removed.

That is a shame philipt22... I have resorted to blocking people in the past and making everything as private as possible, plus all my friends/contacts on there are people I relate to and/or trust? Also I dont add very local people who might just want a nosey, this way I enjoy FB for what it is plus I enjoy the Skiathos group pages very much. This forum though and the informative website Woody created is fantastic too! 🙂

Indeed Di. I was foolish and didn't protect my privacy or pictures; I paid the price for assuming every member of a certain FB group was trustworthy; that mistake has taught me a valuable lesson. This is a great forum by the way.

I have to admit that this is my favourite forum, although I also dip into TA but not post there. This forum is so well organised so you don't have to troll through page after page for any information you require, just go to the section you are interested in. Also, I may be a tidgy bit biased as it was a pm to Dennis prior to my first ever trip to the Sporades that gave me the courage to report on my holiday, never having done anything like that in the past!
I do go on to TA to read what my favourite posters have to say and I also take a look at SL1's blog but cannot say it enough times that this is my favourite! :-):-):-)
I have found other sites in my search about Skiathos but they do not compare!
I don't do Facebook and I am sorry that you had such a bad experience Philipt.

Well I take a bit from all. This forum is consistantly the most informative. TA; well everyone globally uses it for holiday research. I do post reviews on there but am aware there are fake reviews. FB; love it, for the friendly banter.

I like it here.
Skiathos forum wise, it feels like 'home'.
Friendly and informative.

Hi Di, funny you should ask! It was a bit hit and miss about an early holiday for me this year and thought it would be September before I came back. However, I couldn't wait that long so got on line 12 days ago and booked a flight leaving on 16 June, returning on 30th. Two weeks! Back to Aghia Pareskevi. I am so looking forward to the wonderful Greek warmth and hospitality and just chilling out. :-)
