...But not to Skiathos. I've been visiting on and off since 1996 and have had different holidays every time I've been.
I have always found new places to eat, new beaches to visit and new people to meet.
I'm hoping this forum will give me some new tips for my holiday there in May this year.

Welcome to the forum Stephenesque. Another Boomeranger who will hopefully pass on great knowledge of the island to those who are either going the first time or haven't found somewhere yet.

It's good to see new people joining the Forum. I hope that you enjoy it Stephenesque. It would be great if you were able to find time to post some of the photos you have taken over the years. Bob

Thanks Woody; I will certainly pass on any information I can.
And I will also do that, Bob. I've taken thousands of photos on Skiathos over the years, but only have digital copies of those since 2005. I'll dig some out...
The Avatar I have uploaded is a tortoise I saw in 2011 when I was at Demetris Studios in Kolios.

I always stay at Demetris as well but I've never seen the tortoise. Maybe it moved too quickly for me! Bob

I don't suppose the tortoise was staying at Demetris, Bob. Free spirit sort of animal, Big Banana more likely. Plus which, stephenesque (the photography buff) should have admitted the photo was taken with one of those macro lenses and the tortoise is (was) not much bigger than a grain of sand. Or maybe it was one of those Galapagos giant ones, there on holiday and gone back already. Perhaps.

I'd already seen the tortoise on a previous day on the other side of the hill near to Theadora's. This day I was sitting quietly by myself outside my studio which was at the top of the hill next to the larger one at the end when I heard it shuffling and wheezing. It was fairly large and got itself got wedged in the concrete 'gutter' at the side of the apartments. It was in an awkward position and I had to free it without getting injured by it's powerful legs. Once it was free it just pottered about for a while and I snapped a few pictures which I've just uploaded to Flickr. Here's the link, and I've included one of the roosting chickens near the supermarket. Ill add more when I've sorted them. flic.kr/s/aHsk7FaB1M

I'd already seen the tortoise on a previous day on the other side of the hill near to Theadora's. Sorry to disappoint you, but that one was just one of the "other side of the hill near to Theadora's" tortoises - whole family of them. Huge practical jokers - one pops out for you to see it, then next day another pops out at Demetris's. You should hear them laughing about all the sucker tourists (that would be the shuffling and wheezing you heard - they don't like you and me)!

Dennis, you've been told before about drinking Tsipouro at this time of day!

I NEVER give tsipouro to tortoises - it mixes with their lettuce to produce an awful taste.
